ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY MEDAL FOR SAVING LIFE *SHONGBANE SINIAS IN SOUTH AFRICA
Royal Humane Society Medal For Saving Life Inscribed: SHONGBANE SINIAS 25TH DEC. 1939 Confirmed in the Royal Humane Society's 1940 Annual Report listing all the recipients of the bronze medal. The report shows that Sinias was a ranger at the Kruger National Park. The date of the incident was 25 Dec 1939. Case number was 55894. I found the following reference on the Kruger National Park website: "In 1940, ranger Sinias Nyalunga was awarded the Bronze Medal of the Royal Humane Society for risking his life to dive into the Crocodile River to rescue a woman and her baby who had been swept off the bank by floodwaters." Might be him. Clasp swivels freely.
