Rectangular containers is the classical shape used most frequently in bonsai art, when the container is rounded as is this one, the shape becomes less formal. The lip adds elegance to the already beautifully crafted Japanese ceramic containers. Whether it be for a bonsai tree, a few small bulbs, a miniature orchid, a special succulent this container will enhance whatever you plant in it. Drainage holes ensure excess water drains quickly and increases oxygen exchange which promotes root growth. With 5 different glaze colours to choose from we think you will find the choice rather difficult. About this pot The ceramics produced at the Seizan kiln by Reihou are classic. The shapes and proportions are very functional for most any tree, so not only can they be appreciated for the works of art that they are, but your favourite tree will be that much impressive potted in one of these containers. The glaze colours which are used are subdued and once again very complimentary to all species of bonsai trees. This particular rounded rectangular bonsai pot in kin (pale blue) glaze with bamboo relief right round, is a used pot with no damage in the form of cracks or chips. Acer palmatum Suminagashi Seeds Japanese Maple 'Hogyoku' Owing to its striking autumn colour of bright pumpkin orange, this Japanese Maple cultivar is often referred to as "Jewel of Fall". This is a great landscape specimen with an upright, compact growing habit, attractive summer green foliage, stunning autumn colours and beautiful pale bark. This variety is hardy -20°Celsius and can grow to a mature height of approximately 4.5 meters. It responds well to pruning and is also suitable for container growing or bonsai culture. Maples are unrivalled for their autumn foliage colouring and variety of leaf shapes and textures. Maples are a very popular choice for the art of bonsai and many are compact enough for the average garden. Their flowers are green, yellow, orange or red and though individually small, the effect of an entire tree in flower can be striking in several species. Bark is another feature of some maples, although usually smooth grey or greenish, in the group known as the ‘snake bark maples’ it has longitudinal grey or red-brown stripes and in others it is flaky or papery. Most of the approximate 129 species come from East Asia, particularly China, where over 80 species can be found, Japan, with more than 20 species, and the eastern Himalayas. Most species are deciduous, but a few in southern Asia and the Mediterranean region are evergreen. Most maples prefer a cool, moist climate with ample rainfall in spring and summer.
