We have improved the 28 inch apollo to tilt more than 20 percent from our original design. The Apollo has been perfected over the last 20 years. Unlike others, our umbrella frame is constructed using solid metal. With the wide recessed edge, the Apollo provides 104-degrees of light spread allowing control of where exactly the light falls. Face the light forward through the white diffusion front for specular highlights. Specular highlights will provide a "hot spot" on your subject with a greater fall off from highlights to shadows. For a softer and more even light, bounce your speedlite off the back of the Apollo. The end result is your subject being very evenly light with just a gradual fall off from highlight to shadow. This is the same affect as using a softbox with the internal baffle and outer diffusion panel both in place. Fabrics are pure in color so the color temperature going into the fabric is the same color temperature coming back out.
