        VINTAGE ENGLISH IOLITE, GARNET, DIAMOND GEMSTONE 9CT GOLD RING Gorgeous colours combine with this vintage piece. The main stone is an oval faceted, claw-set iolite gemstone. Iolite can vary from grey to blue but is most popular when it presents this particularly beautiful deep violet colour, not unlike tanzanite. There are 2 x trillion cut garnets, once on either side of the iolite, creating a beautiful berry line of colours. There are also 6 x round cut natural white diamonds, three on either side, channel set into the yellow gold shoulders leading up to the ring head.  There are no hallmarks so I can't tell you much about its provenance - to be safe I had the gold and the gemstones all checked and verified by a jeweller. However, I found it at a vintage jeweller in Birmingham, England in the famous Jewellery Quarter.  The front section of the 9ct yellow gold shank leading up to the bridge supporting the ring head is nice and solid but the shank is very slender at the back. Its  a big ring size (9).
