Vintage Marx Train Set (Swansea GT Britain) #3978 Steam Locomotive / Black / Passenger - Wind-up 1950's - Original Box - RARE An unique opportunity to own this VERY RARE collectors item, to add to your collection. A "MUST-HAVE" for the real Collector. On offer is a Vintage Marx Train Set with a #3978 Steam Locomotive (BLACK) and passenger carriages still in its original box. These trains were normally made in either Blue, Green or Red, which makes the BLACK quite scarce and collectable. The set is dated around the 1950's and was manufactured in Swansea Great Britain. The box shows clear signs or usage / damage and was repaired. The train set also shows signs of use, with some dents and a hook repaired with wire, BUT overall it is still in fairly good condition considering its age. There is no wind-up key and we doubt if the mechanism still works. It would seem that there might be some track sections missing with some damage to others. Part boxed vintage Lima Crick mechanical train set. I would date this part train set to the 1970s. The set consists of a Coca-Cola, Schweppes and Refrigirator closed box wagon, A 1950s Lima HO Alco 1930 CN steam locomotive (not part of the original set), 10 Lima curved train tracks and 1 landscape office (not sure if from the set).
