Bauhinia galpinii Seeds Pride of De Kaap or Vlam-van-die-Vlakte As the name suggests, anyone could be forgiven for thinking that this plant comes from the Cape. In actual fact it is named after the De Kaap valley, south of Nelspruit in Mpumalanga in the northeastern region of South Africa. It is much more widespread, however, and can be found right across the moister bushveld areas of the country. In its wild state this medium to large shrub behaves more as a climber, clambering through the trees and shrubs of the dense thicket vegetation in which it occurs. It doesn't have to be grown in this fashion in your garden and with just a little pruning and training it can easily be trained into an attractive small tree or large garden shrub. Alternatively it can be encouraged in its clambering habit to cover pergolas or other structures and offer evergreen shade in your garden. On offer is a pack of 5 Seeds We'll supply you with all the germination & care instructions.

Hydrangea serratifolia Seeds   Hydrangea serratifolia is a woody evergreen climber similar to Hydrangea seemanii, with leathery dark green leaves to 15cm. In summer it bears clustered corymbs of white flower heads to 15cm across. Good for walls and tree trunks. It will grow to 15 meters is height. In Chile Hydrangea serratifolia grows at medium altitudes up to the timber line and at low altitudes on interior valleys. It grows in water or it has its roots within a permanent water course. This corresponds to marshes, bogs, water courses, lakes and river shores. It is also found in humid areas, with almost constant rainfall but can survive for short dry periods but generally not longer than 1 month. It grows in the shade of other plants in deep shadow. Deep ravines facing south with additional shadow from trees, or where there is very dense vegetation cover which gives 40% to 80% shadow like the Valdivian forests. Hydrangea serratifolia is cold hardy to -15° C or even -20° C. It can be covered by snow for 1 - 8 months and come back in spring! You're buying a pack of 10 Seeds We'll supply you with all the germination & care instructions.

Sphagnum peat moss (SPM) is partially decomposed sphagnum moss. Its large cell structure enables it to absorb air and water like a sponge. Although peat moss does not contain nutrients, it adsorbs nutrients added to or present in the soil releasing them over time as the plants require. This saves valuable nutrients which are otherwise lost through leaching. Sphagnum Peat Moss is derived from the slow decomposition of sphagnum moss which accumulates in bogs (or peatlands). Harvesters clear bogs of vegetation and then dig shallow ditches to lower the water table so that the peat will dry and that the equipment necessary to harvest the peat can operate on the field. Once a bog is ditched, harvesting begins. Harrows loosen the top peat moss which then dries in the sun for two to three hours before being vacuumed into large harvesters. It is transported from the field to the plant where it is screened, graded and baled for storage or shipping. Please note that the 200 litre compressed bales are Lithuanian Peat Moss. Geranium incanum Seeds Carpet Geranium Geranium incanum, commonly known as Carpet Geranium in English and Horlosies, Vrouetee or Bergtee in Afrikaans is a South African endemic species from the Eastern Cape and Western Cape Provinces. The carpet geranium is an ideal garden plant. It spreads and forms a dense carpet approximately 300mm thick and flowers almost all year round with a peak during the summer months. It has finely divided leaves which give it a soft texture in the garden. It occurs naturally in the southwestern and eastern parts of the country where it can be found scrambling about through natural vegetation. It can be grown in full sun or semi-shade, although it does flower better and form a tighter carpet in full sun. Geranium incanum can be used very effectively on banks or as a colourful border plant, it is also very attractive when allowed to trail over retaining walls or garden pathways and steps. It is also equally useful in mixed borders, pots or hanging baskets. The bid amount is for 1 Seed Growing Instructions will be sent to your email. WE ALLOW 30 DAYS FOR PAYMENT

Satyrium pallens Seeds   Satyrium is widespread in temperate and montane Africa, and two species are to be found in Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Burma). The genus comprises about 90 species of orchids, of which 37 are found in South Africa. With their small non-resupinate flowers (lip facing up) Satyrium species do not really look 'orchid-like'. The African species of the genus grow in fynbos, grassland and miombo woodland, and can sometimes be found in extensive and dense colonies of thousands of individuals, particularly in the year after a veld fire. Most species are pollinated by moths which are attracted by the evening-scented flowers, but pollination by carrion flies and bees also occurs in the genus. Carrion fly-pollinated Satyrium flowers emit an unpleasant carrion-like odour. Flies, apparently hoping to find a dead animal to lay their eggs in, are attracted by these flowers and pollinate them. An exciting find was the recent discovery that three South African Satyrium species are pollinated by sunbirds. Satyrium pallens is a South African endemic species from the Western Cape Province’s Little Karoo and southern margin of the Great Karoo near Ceres. It is normally found growing in Fynbos and Succulent Karoo on rocky south-facing slopes in dry fynbos and Karoo vegetation at altitudes of 500 meters to 1400 meters. Growing orchids from seed is a fairly specialized undertaking and it requires a bit of understanding of tissue culture techniques. If you have never grown orchids from seed we recommend that before attempting this you should first contact your local Orchid Society, or purchase a book on the subject, or both! The bid amount is for 1 Seed

Passiflora caerulea (blue passion flower, common passion flower) is a species of flowering plant native to South America (Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil). It is a vigorous, deciduous or semi-evergreen tendril vine growing to 10 m (33 ft) or more, with palmate leaves and fragrant, blue-white flowers with a prominent fringe of coronal filaments in bands of blue, white, and brown. The ovoid orange fruit, growing to 6 cm, is edible but bland. P. caerulea is a woody vine capable of growing to 1520 m high where supporting trees are available. The leaves are alternate, palmately five-lobed like a spread hand (sometimes three or seven lobes), 1018 cm long and wide. The base of each leaf has a flagellate-twining tendril 510 cm long, which twines around supporting vegetation to hold the plant up. The flower is complex, about 10 cm in diameter, with the five sepals and petals similar in appearance, whitish in colour, surmounted by a corona of blue or violet filaments, then five greenish-yellow stamens and three purple stigmas. The fruit is an oval orange-yellow berry 6 cm long by 4 cm in diameter, containing numerous seeds; it is eaten, and the seeds spread by mammals and birds. It is edible to humans, but bland in flavour. In tropical climates, it will flower all year round.
