Based on the evidence proving Renesmee is not an immortal child, the Volturi execute Irina for her false allegations. Aro then states he is convinced Renesmee could still pose a threat. Before a final decision is handed down, Alice and Jasper arrive to prove that Renesmee is not an immortal, after Aro reads Alice hand. Alice signals Bella to get Renesmee and Jacob to run but is captured by The Volturi, which provokes a reaction from Carlisle. Aro proceeds to decapitate him and burn Carlisle's body, to the horror of Esme and the other vampires. This triggers a battle between the allied vampires and the Volturi's forces.
