Bringing world music to Jozie, Cape Town’s Desert Rose, leaders in creating and performing sacred music with universal resonance, will – for one night only-create an evening of heavenly rhythms, taking the audience on a mystic musical journey.    Desert Rose, found in , by leading world music composer, Lynne Holmes has toured abroad since to the UK, Europe and Far East to standing ovations. They will make their debut at Wits Theatre on 14 November at 8 pm.   Live African Harp, Djembe, Mbira, African Bow, “Talking Drum” are harnessed to punctuate the unique voices of group members Lynne, Yusuf, Nceba, Sisonke and Michaela. The music of Desert Rose has been described as emotive and mystical. The listener will be drawn into an enchanting journey as the evocative sounds of Ancient Aramaic, Arabic, and Sanskrit, stirs a deep memory of our origins within all of us (See artists’ profiles below.)   They have 13 CDs to their credit and their album, Silence of the Music (September ), received critical acclaim and a 5 star rating from mainstream media for the integration of diverse cultural elements into an original world music sound.   In March they performed to standing ovations in Mount Abu, Ahmedabad, Rajasthan and Delhi, India. They are currently preparing for the upcoming COP20 event in Lima, Peru in Dec and for a UK/Europe Tour in April .   Desert Rose has performed and headlined major events in South Africa including Mandela Day at the Ubuntu Festival (), Cape Town Festival on Human Rights Day (),) the launch of the Charter of Compassion with Archbishop Desmond Tutu (),  Indigenous Orchestra Ensemble at Artscape Theatre, Cape Town (), annual Yoga Festival in Stellenbosch (),  Reconciliation Day Celebrations in Greyton () and the International Peace Day celebrations in Durban on 21 Sep .    To their international audiences in July and June they performed at the annual Georgetown Festival on Penang Island, Malaysia.
