1990. Hard cover with dust cover; A4 size; 199 pages. Very good, clean condition. Parcel over 1kg. One of the most comprehensive accounts of the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War ever published, "Brave Men's Blood" is also the best illustrated. The result of years of research in Britain, South Africa, France, the USA and Australia, it includes 270 contemporary illustrations integrated with text providing a concise history of the Zulu state and the causes of the war. The illustrations of men in action, uniforms and weapons, brings to life the experiences of soldiers from both sides, and create a sense of life in the field and the drama of combat itself. Battles are depicted in contemporary sketches and engravings that present a unique record of the campaign.   

                                                          Please note before bidding that the clothes and kit are not in the best of condition. There are tears, buttons and insignia missing, scuff marks and other damage. I do not want the buyer to find any "surprises" upon receiving the parcel, so consider the condition rather as "poor" and bid accordingly. The water bottles are made of foam and the helmets, one without inner straps, from plastic. These uniforms and kit we apparently used with the making of the film "Zulu Dawn" in 1979, the battle at Isandlwana  between Zulu and Brit. The uniforms and kit would be ideal for use in re- enactment shows. The size of the uniforms are small. The one jacket has a tear and no buttons. The long pants are badly torn at the crotch. The parcel can be sent with SAPO (at buyers own risk) at a cost of R85. Postnet should be in the region of R130. The buyer can also appoint his or her own courier service to pick up the parcel directly in Vryheid. The decoration is awarded to German military personnel of all grades but is only allowed to be worn by enlisted members. The German armed forces regulations point out that "the Schützenschnur is a decoration for weapons proficiency for enlisted soldiers." Officers can receive the award, although it is not currently authorized to be worn on their uniforms. Foreign military members also may be awarded the badge, the German military regulation on officers still applies, permitting only the enlisted members to wear the badge.
