The trees are grafted and about a meter in height, and some are taller. Plant in the open ground and stake the tree for upright growth. Space trees about 3 m apart. Prefers well drained soil with lots of organic matter. Almonds are very easy to grow in the Western Cape, since they prefer Mediterranean climates. They can tolerate drought and wind. Almonds flower in mid to late winter in the Western Cape. Most varieties require cross pollination so its better to plant 2 trees such as Non-nonpareil and Peerless that flower at the same time together. They can grow up to 3m tall and looks spectacular when in full bloom.

Ficus is a pan-tropical genus of about 850 species of woody trees, shrubs, vines, epiphytes and hemiepiphytes in the family Moraceae. Ficus occupies a wide variety of ecological niches; most are evergreen, but some deciduous species are endemic to areas outside of the tropics and to higher elevations. Fig species are characterized by their unique inflorescence and distinctive pollination syndrome, which utilizes wasp species belonging to the Agaonidae family for pollination. The fruit of most species are edible though they are usually of only local economic importance or eaten as bushfood. However, they are extremely important food resources for wildlife. Figs are also of considerable cultural importance throughout the tropics, both as objects of worship and for their many practical uses.            Ficus vallis-choudae commonly known as False Cape Fig or Haroni Fig and synonymously known as Ficus schweinfurthii and Sycomorus schimperiana forms an evergreen tree to 20 m tall. The leaves are ovate to broadly ovate with the upper surface being rough to the touch. They are thin and leathery with conspicuous cream-green venation. The edible fruit figs are produced solitary in the leaf axils and are up to 4 cm in diameter. They are densely velvety, turning yellow to orange when ripe with faint reddish stripes.

Description For over a century, Japanese bonsai artists have used an organic fertilizer to provide the nutrients needed to keep their trees in perfect health year round. BonsaiBoost is locally produced from high quality, pure canola meal, the same ingredient still used in Japan today. BonsaiBoost should be used on any bonsai or potted plant, from collected stock through to exhibition trees and on flowering, fruiting or evergreen trees. Easy to use with no mixing required, BonsaiBoost sachets are laid on the surface around the bonsai and watered as normal. At each watering, a little of the nutrients in the sachet is carried to the roots. Sachets can be replaced every 2 months during the growing season. Features Time saver - every time you water you are fertilizing at the same time. Organic fertilizer which cannot burn your trees. Sustained, slow release of nutrients to your trees. Promotes healthy, strong growth. Easy to use and will not harm pets if accidentally ingested. The above claims are guaranteed. If you are not 100% satisfied we will refund you in full. Easy to use BonsaiBoost is packaged in high quality coffee filter bags to ensure water penetrates easily but without allowing the ground fertilizer to disappear into the soil mix. To use simply place the BonsaiBoost bag onto the soil and secure in place with wire or a toothpick. For shohin (small trees below 30cm) you should use about 1 bag. Medium sized trees can take 2 bags and larger trees as required. For maintenance of developed trees you will not need as much fertilizer as trees which are still being developed. Replace the bags roughly every 2 months. When you first start using them they will omit an odour. This odour diminishes with time till eventually no smell is experienced. The ground canola cake will become a solid lump, this is normal. While using BonsaiBoost little additional fertilizer is needed. For many years, Japanese bonsai professionals have been using exclusively these cakes to fertilize their trees. However for flowering plants you may want to use a fertilizer specifically aimed at promoting flowering. A seaweed extract may also be a good idea to use once in a while. BonsaiBoost is the ideal fertilizer when using open growing mediums such as our Professional Bonsai Growing Medium. 100% Biodegradable After using the bag for your preferred length of time don't simply throw it away. You can do the following: Make a small hole in your garden soil and bury the bag, it will completely degrade and add to the nutrients there too. Use it around your overpotted trees which are still undergoing development. Fertilize your field growing trees. Place into pot plant containers. How many trees can I feed? 20 Shohin trees for 2 months 10 Medium trees for 2 months 7 or 8 Large bonsai trees for 2 months Contents Macro elements: 53 N g/kg 12 P g/kg 14 K g/kg Micro elements: 7.9 Ca g/kg 0.62 Mg mg/kg 62 Mn mg/kg 195 Fe mg/kg 5 Cu mg/kg 58 Zn mg/kg 40 B mg/kg If you would like to add a slow release organic fertilizer to your growing mix when you repot, then you may wish to consider our Milled Seaweed. To date all work done has been as a result of strong ‘word-of mouth’ marketing – a firm testament to the quality of work we do, and our focus on client satisfaction. All work is carried out by trained professionals who ensure a tidy removal and “thinning out” of all types of trees. Our team follow proper procedures to ensure the survival of trees by using specialised cuts when felling trees. We are experts at sculpting trees to keep them neat while preserving a natural flow that stimulates healthy tree growth. We are neat professional tree fellers who work in and around Cape Town. About us Arbor ascent is an owner-operated business with solid experience in forestry and specialized tree felling. Lee Mager is fully SAFTA qualified and all cuts are performed according to industry best practice. When work is carried out we ensure the site is organised. Nobody wants a mess, and we find that everything runs smoothly when timber, brush wood and foliage are organised into piles. Large branches are cut into firewood pieces and stacked out of the way, while smaller brush is stacked into separate piles ready for removal. When the job is complete, your space is cleaner than when we arrived. Being the Eco warriors that we are, nothing goes to waste. Brush wood and foliage is always recycled. Client Testimonial ” Arbor Ascent did a fantastic job. They were on time and were hugely effecient. They tackled some big trees for us, which were not easy to get to. Pinus banksiana  Bonsai Seeds Pinus banksiana commonly known as Jack Pine is an eastern North American pine. Its native range in Canada is east of the Rocky Mountains from the Mackenzie River in the Northwest Territories to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, and the north-central and northeast of the United States from Minnesota to Maine, with the southernmost part of the range just into northwest Indiana and northwest Pennsylvania. It is also known as grey pine and scrub pine. Pinus banksiana ranges from 9–22 m in height. Some jack pines are shrub-sized, due to poor growing conditions. They do not usually grow perfectly straight, resulting in an irregular shape similar to pitch pine (Pinus rigida). This pine often forms pure stands on sandy or rocky soil. It is fire-adapted to stand-replacing fires; with the cones remaining closed for many years, until a forest fire kills the mature trees and opens the cones, reseeding the burnt ground. The leaves are in fascicles of two, needle-like, twisted, slightly yellowish-green, and 2–4 cm long. Jack Pine cones are usually 5 cm and curved at the tip. The cones are 3–5 cm long, the scales with a small, fragile prickle that usually wear off before maturity, leaving the cones smooth. Unusually for a pine, the cones normally point forward along the branch, sometimes curling around it. That is an easy way to tell it apart from the similar lodge pole pine in more western areas of North America. The cones on mature trees are serotinous. They open when exposed to intense heat, greater than or equal to 50°C. The typical case is in a fire; however cones on the lower branches can open when temperatures reach 27°C due to the heat being reflected off the ground. Additionally, when temperatures reach −46°C, the cones will open, due to the nature of the resin. On offer is a pack of 10 Seeds

Please select your desired pot from the drop down list above, or you can choose the complete set and save. The wooden display table is not included. Dimensions may differ slightly from stated. WHY SELECT THESE POTS? These cascade pots are available in a wide variety of shapes including square, hexagonal and more. They are ideally suited for trees which represent trees in nature growing from a rock face, over a waterfall or on a high precipice. Rather then the tip of the tree being the highest point of the planting it is the lowest as it nears the same surface the pot is placed onto. Available in an exciting range of colours which are easily matched up with a bonsai tree; including blues, greens and browns. Selecting a glaze colour When choosing a pot of a certain colour, usually one takes into consideration the feature of the tree which you wish to enhance and then select a complementary colour to that feature. A complementary colour is the colour opposite another on the colour wheel. For example the pink flowers of a Cape May or a pink Chinese Snow Rose will be best shown off if the tree is planted in a green pot as the flowers are the most attractive feature of the tree and green is the complementary colour to pink. Fruit is emphasized by using the complementary colour to that of the fruit. So the orange berries of a firethorn bonsai tree will be best shown off when planted in a blue container. Always keep in mind that the most important item is the tree and the pot must be subordinate to it. To read more about choosing a pot read this helpful guide.
