Oxheart tomatoes are large, old-fashioned, very fragrant heirlooms. Heirloom, or heritage, tomatoes have come back into fashion because they are easy to grow and pack a wallop with their production.  These tomatoes are a favorite for slicing and sandwiches. Oxheart tomatoes come in heart shapes. The oxheart tomato plant has fern-like foliage. Oxhearts are indeterminate tomatoes, which means they will grow and produce fruit until killed by frost. The plants can get as tall as 10 feet, thought most reach only 6 feet.   10 seeds per pack.  Growing instructions included

We're already growing purple carrots, yellow courgettes and white asparagus. But black tomatoes are the must-have crop for greenhouses this season, growers say. Not only will the dark toms turn heads at the allotment society, they are also healthier than normal red varieties, according to plant scientists. The new tomato starts out as a normal green fruit, but ripens to a Rosy-black colour.     GROWING INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED

Oxheart Heirloom Tomatoes   Oxheart tomatoes are large old fashioned heirloom tomatoes that are yellow, pink or light red in color. The plant itself is more of a fern like plant then most types of tomato plants. They are large plants that get to be about 1.8m tall and they need to be supported as they grow. The soil should be rich and full of organic matter with plenty of fertilizer. they should also be planted in a spot that has good drainage. They require adequate water to form good tomatoes so they should be watered twice a week. The Oxheart takes about 80 days to harvest. Once the Oxheart plant starts to produce tomatoes it will keep producing them until the first frost. When the temperatures start to get cold then they will not make any new blossoms but they will finish growing the tomatoes from the blossoms they have. View our other items by clicking on the shield:

It's heavily lobed and often convoluted shape is indicative of early nineteenth century tomato varieties, but makes an oddity in today's vegetable garden.     San Marzano tomatoes originate from the small town of San Marzano sul Sarno, near Naples, Italy, and were first grown in volcanic soil in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius. One story goes that the first seed of this tomato came to Campania in 1770, as a gift from the Viceroyalty of Peru to the Kingdom of Naples, and that it was planted in the area of San Marzano sul Sarno. Compared to the Roma tomato, San Marzano tomatoes are thinner and more pointed. The flesh is much thicker with fewer seeds, and the taste is stronger, sweeter and less acidic. Many people describe the taste as bittersweet. The San Marzano vines are indeterminate and have a somewhat longer season than other paste tomato varieties, making them particularly suitable for warmer climates. As is typical of heirloom plants, San Marzano is an open-pollinated variety that breeds true from generation to generation, making seed saving practical.
