Should you use this lens on a DX camera (D90, D etc), then the actual zoom will start at 255mm and will zoom right in at 750mm. The lens comes with: Original caps front and back Hood Quick release lens collar. Tripod mounts on the collar and not on the camera for better balance Original carry bag This is a quality lens with a metal mount at the back. The condition of the lens is immaculate and has not really been used in the past. Hence the reason I'm selling it. If you need a huge telephoto, this is for you. This Sigma  500mm f/4.5 EX DG APO HSM  lens is an Apochromatic ultra-telephoto lens with a fast f/4.5 maximum aperture, and it incorporates two  ELD  (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements to reduce chromatic aberration to a minimum. Internal focus enables responsive and fast autofocus speed. This lens is specially coated to get the best color balance whilst cutting down on ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. The lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras. Powerful and silent  H yper  S onic  M otor enables fulltime manual focus override. EX  lens series denotes excellence of engineering and new technology.A rotatable 46mm drop-in filter holder in the rear part of the lens barrel facilitates the use of filters including a polarizing filter. Lens hood, lens cap, polarizing filter and original case included.

The 500mm is a unique focal length and its large fixed aperture of 4.5 makes it great for photographing wildlife. A Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensure quiet, accurate and high speed autofocusing working together with an Inner Focusing system which enables additional speed and responsiveness while, the overall length does not change during focusing. Surprisingly compact for its focal length, the 500mm is approximately 14 inches long and weighs slightly less than 7 pounds. Two ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements provide optimum color correction and sharpness throughout the entire zoom range and a new multi-layer lens coating technology and lens design formula reduce flare and ghosting. It doesn't have an auto-focus motor and relies on the built-in auto-focus motors of the cameras it's mounted to and thus won't auto-fucus on cameras that don't have their own auto-focus motors. This compact ultra telephoto zoom lens covers a useful range up to 500mm. The new multi-layer lens coating and lens design reduces flare and ghosting, and creates an optimum color balance resulting in better picture quality through the entire zoom range on both film and digital SLRs.
