Mbia has picked up a number of winner's medals in his career to date, most notably the French league championship with Marseille in , as well as the French League Cup in and . At international level, Mbia was a losing finalist in the African Cup of Nations with Cameroon in . He is also the older brother of Franck, who currently plays for FC St. Gallen in the Swiss Challenge League.
