The sinking resulted in the loss of more than 1,500 passengers and crew making it one of the deadliest commercial peacetime maritime disasters in modern history. The RMS Titanic, the largest ship afloat at the time it entered service, was the second of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, and was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast with Thomas Andrews as her naval architect. Andrews was among those lost in the sinking.  Published by His Majesty's Stationery Office, 1925, although the facsimile signature of WF Nicholson for the Air Ministry is dated December 1924. This is a practical / survival booklet for shot down / stranded pilots, and contains fold out charts such as "Characteristics Used on British Ordnance Survey Maps", and navigational aids such as "Curves of Equal Magnetic Variation, 1922" for instance. There are also several sketch plans for re-rigging canvas of various aircraft of the time, two of which appear in the photos attached. There is a holder for a pen / pencil which was probably issued with this booklet, but this is missing. There is also an empty pocket to the rear, which probably contained some document in the past, but this is no longer present. There is now an original loose photograph of an aircraft, with the caption "The machines that flew us to the camp' in that folder. The spine is beginning to show netting on the title page. There is an RAF Halton (?) stamp on the board opposite. The fold out covers of the book are in reasonable condition, if a bit worn in places.
