Position: Scrap Metal Buyer - MUST BE FLUENT IN AFRIKAANS Location: Epping - Cape Town Duration: Permanent Start Date: ASAP Type of Business: Metal Recycling Remuneration: R and R car Allowance. Provident fund (savings and risk) Hospital plan – Discovery Health 15 days leave per annum On permanent appointment: Car allowance, Cell phone allowance, Fuel Purpose of the Job: Our client is a large privately-owned metal recycling company with its headquarters in Cape Town and operations in the Western Cape and Gauteng. The Group has a position for a committed, hardworking, honest, sharp and motivated Scrap Metal Buyer to work within the Buying department situated in Epping, Cape Town. The successful applicant will report directly to the Divisional Director. Main Functions: · All buying of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals at competitive prices and at the correct quality standards · Ensuring scrap suppliers are updated with appropriate change in prices and specifications. · Ensuring a strong working relationships with all scrap suppliers · Sourcing new scrap metal suppliers · Meeting targets and objectives as determined by the department divisional director · Extensive local and country travel · Preparing action plans and schedules to identify target markets · Identifying and resolving scrap supplier’s concerns · Daily, weekly, monthly statistical reporting Requirements: · Must be FLUENT in AFRIKAANS · Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills · Minimum Grade 12 numeracy and literacy skills required but a tertiary education is preferred · Must have advanced Computer skills · Must be able to work independently as well as in a team · Unendorsed driver’s license required and own, reliable transport is essential · Maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. · Must have the ability to resolve problems and think independently · Must be bilingual and especially strong in Afrikaans · Standard Hours- Monday – Thursday and Friday · May be required to work overtime as per operational requirements Career Advice: Applicants please note that a specific consultant is dealing with this vacancy.
