The original owner of this item was in the Rhodesian Army and in the BSAP Police Reserve (Blue Group Stick Leader). He made this display himself. The plastic covering is just a normal plastic covering. All items seem to be glued on the WWII Burma Star material colours background etc., for his service in WWII on the HMS Test. The plastic covering might show defects which are not actually on the items themselves. The back plaque cloth is that of the Southern Rhodesia Staff Corps. PATCHES: RHODESIA               : Never stitched, but glued. RHODESIAN ARMY  : Never stitched, but glued. BSAP RESERVE      : Never stitched, but glued. POLICE RESERVE   : Used, but good condition. Seems to have been washed. Glued. BSAP BLUE GROUP: Never used or stitched, but glued. BADGES (L-R): No. 1.: Very good condition: No lugs or pin. No. 2.: Very good condition, detail good. No lugs or pin. No. 3.: Very good condition, no lugs or pin. Glue visible under bottom paw area. No. 4.: Set: The first 3 all fine from top view, the last 3 where corners somewhat point together, has glue on top of those corners. RHODESIAN ARMY PATCH: You need to ignore the plastic covering, so hence the actual Rhodesian Army patch itself, basically ONLY has the following main faults on it top end: 1. Directly above the lion's left ear (Closest to his tail) is one white spot (On the red cotton border), the one to the view-able right of that, is a reflection only etc. 2. Directly below the pick handle bottom side, on the red cotton border, is one white spot. 3. On the RHS edge of the vertical red cotton border, as indicated by the white indicators, the green patch material comes through the red stitching a bit in 3 places, mainly on the thin edge side, not the top so much. That's about it.... Since this is an original person's plaque, I don't care to open it or interfere with it as such. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks....

The dreams for which young heroes died How cheap they seem today Except to those who loved so much And watched them march away We live because they died, and yet They live if we do not forget The intention of this publication is to honour all who lost their lives in action, or while on active service, with the Rhodesian Security Forces during the period 19661981. This publication represents the single most comprehensive Rhodesian Combined Forces Roll of Honour covering the so-called Bush War. Many people have researched the casualties of the Rhodesian Bush War and it is highly unlikely that a single researcher will ever compile a definitive list of all those who perished. Dr J.R.T. Wood produced the first most comprehensive Roll of Honour of the Rhodesian Combined Forces while many others, including Gerry van Tonder and Adrian Haggett, have used his roll as a base for expansion, correction and addition. It is, therefore, thanks to Dr Woods original work that the Roll of Honour has been improved to this point. Paperback, 160 pages. Published May 2012

Books of Zimbabwe, 1980. Hard cover with dust cover, 159 pages. Very good condition. The dust cover has wear and tearUnder 1kg. "T'he war to end all wars', an epic of sacrifice and endurance, witnessed a remarkable contribution by Southern Rhodesia, and this book describes the part played by this young and extraordinary nation. Many countries remained peaceful backwaters in the years 1914-18, but Southern Rhodesia was not among those which remained aloof. Rhodesians patriotically flocked to the colours in August 1914, impatient to get to the battlefronts. Hundreds of them died or were maimed in this romantic pursuit of the glory of war; illusions were shattered like the bodies of the victims, and few who survived were unmarked by the nightmare through which they had lived. The Western Front has cast its eerie spell over images of the Great War but the conflict was spread across half the globe, and black and white Rhodesians also stormed into battle in the dunes of South West Africa, in the thorn scrub of disease-ridden East Africa, in Palestine, Bulgaria, in the air and at sea. The war accelerated the emergence of a Rhodesian nation; only a minority of those who fought had been born in the country, but they identified themselves as Rhodesians and banded together into Rhodesian units. ' Peter McLaughlin manages skilfully to convey the whole local background, the simple unawareness of the complex issues involved in the European conflict on the part of the folks back home in the Rhodesia of 1914. In their pathetic eagerness they packed off every able-bodied man in support of an unrequited common loyalty and patriotism. '

1989 first edition hardcover with dust jacket and394 pages in very neat condition. Signed by Wood on title page. R65 postage in SA. When the Rhodesian Army recruited André Dennison in 1975, it secured the services of a hardened veteran of four of the minor wars of the 1950s and 1960s. Thus he was the most appropriate choice as the first Officer Commanding 'A' Company of the new 2nd Battalion of the Rhodesian African Rifles. André Dennison  kept a meticulous record of the daily life of his 'A' Company, writing up his war diaries every night and eventually, when convalescing from wounds, transcribing them into a single volume. He wrote in the dry, humorous style of the professional soldier, sparing little pity for his enemy while displaying deep affection and admiration for his men as he chronicled their exploits.

A Pride Of Eagles: A History Of The Rhodesian Air Force - Beryl Salt  2015 edition. Soft cover, 760 pages. Very good condition; like new. Over 1kg. This is the story of military aviation in Rhodesia from the romantic days of 'bush' flying in the 1920's and '30s-when aircraft were refuelled from jerrycans and landing grounds were often the local golf course-to the disbandment of the Rhodesian Air Force (RhAF) on Zimbabwean independence in 1980. In 1939 the tiny Royal Rhodesian Air Force (RRAF) became the first to take up battle stations even before the outbreak of the Second World War. The three Rhodesian squadrons served with distinction in East Africa, the Western Desert, Italy and Western Europe. At home Rhodesia became a vast training ground for airmen from across the Empire-from Britain, the Commonwealth and even Greece. After the war, Rhodesia, on a negligible budget, rebuilt its air force, equipping it with Ansons, Spitfires, Vampires, Canberras, Hunters and Alouettes. Following UDI, the unilateral declaration of independence from Britain in 1965, international sanctions were imposed, resulting in many remarkable and groundbreaking innovations, particularly in the way of ordnance. The bitter 'bush war' followed in the late 1960s and '70s, with the RhAF in the vanguard of local counter-insurgency operations and audacious pre-emptive strikes against vast guerrilla bases in neighbouring Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana and as far afield as Angola and Tanzania. With its ageing fleet, including C-47 'Dakotas' that had been at Arnhem, the RhAF was able to wreak untold havoc on the enemy, Mugabe's ZANLA and Nkomo's ZIPRA. The late author took over 30 years in writing this book; the result is a comprehensive record that reflects the pride, professionalism and dedication of what were some of the world's finest airmen of their time. Paperback, 856 pages, 800 photos, 70 diagrams & maps SECOND EDITION: PUBLISHED FEBRUARY 2015
