It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 4 - 8 working days Written with Gerald Durrell's usual sharp eye for observing humour in any situation, Rosy is my Relative will delight fans both old and new. At the age of thirty, Adrian Rookwhistle's life hasn't quite turned out the way he'd have hoped. Working an unfulfilling job as a clerk in the city and living under the tyranny of his fearsome landlady, he can't help but think that there is more to life. However, all of this suddenly changes when he receives a curious letter from his dying uncle who has bequeathed him GBP500 and an elephant by the name of Rosy who has a seemingly unquenchable thirst for liquor. At a loss of what to do with his unexpectedly gargantuan - and rarely sober - inheritance, Adrian sets forth on a journey believing to have the answer to his dilemma; he'll give her away to the circus. Together Adrian and Rosy carve a trail of destruction through the peaceful countryside of southern England, meeting a curious cast of misfits along the way. Drunk or sober, Rosy spreads chaos in her wake, until the full weight of the law finally catches up with her... In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans have learned to live in relative peace. Still, Claire Danvers knows that after dark, her homework can take a backseat to staying alive. But this tenuous harmony is really turned on its head with the arrival of Mr Bishop. Bad to the bone, the ancient old-school vampire cares nothing about keeping the peace. Staying at the top of the food chain is enough. What he wants from the town's living and dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal ball attended by vampires and their human dates that Claire realises Bishop's plan - and the elaborately evil trap he's set for the warm-blooded souls of Morganville. Features Summary In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans live in relative peace but Claire Danvers has never been convinced - especially with the arrival of Mr Bishop... 2007 paperback with 434 pages in good condition. R50 postage in SA. Inscribed and signed on front page by Pinard.                                                                                                                                                          A narrative that has its roots in the dark Middle Ages of Europe, and the brutal Roman Catholic inquisitions! Will history repeat itself? A saga of the persecuted French Huguenots, Jacques Pinard and his wife, Hester, who find refuge at the Cape of Good Hope in 1688. Almost 300 years later, a distant relative and son of Africa, Rueben Pinard, stumbles upon his French Huguenot heritage. His subsequent supernatural awakening to the faith of his forefathers and his prophetic calling. A vision, beginning with the powerful prophetic utterance: "You must go to the land of your ancestors!" An end-time scenario. A mysterious Jewish remnant. History repeats itself - a place of refuge. The Holy See, Opus Dei - a Personal Prelature. Apollyon/Abaddon - the 'Beast' of the last days - the man of sin. Global persecution of Christians. Implementation of Satan's seal of ownership - the infamous 666! The Great Tribulation. Battle of Jerusalem. The Return of the Son of Man with power and might! Thy Kingdom Come! Jesus' 1000 year reign from Jerusalem. Although the theme of this book is classified as fiction, a portion of the content is semi-autobiographical. The balance is premised upon certain Biblical, historical and contemporary facts. The backdrop being the last book in the Bible: the book of Revelation. Through the medium of faction (fact and fiction), the author weaves a realistic and exciting end-time drama around the book of Revelation. His purpose is to encourage everyone, everywhere, to read the last book of the Bible. The book of Revelation is the 'roadmap' of prophecy for these the last days! The author, together with his wife lives in Franschhoek (French Corner), South Africa, where theyadminister an end-time prophetic Internet ministry. They are committed Christians and are respectively 8th generation French Huguenot and Dutch religious refugee descendants. Because of this they have a rich Christian heritage. Therefore, the blood of the martyrs runs 'thickly' through their veins.

(This title is available on demand: expected date of dispatch will be 4-7 working days once ordered) Severe mental illness afflicts many men and women throughout their lives, often without warning, and almost always with devastating results. This book takes a look at psychosis, and contends that although the delusions and hallucinations of the psychotic person are misguided and confused, they are understandable when viewed in the context of a person's life. Using real life examples, Capps covers the prevalence of psychotic illness; the long-range effects of deinstitutionalization on mentally ill persons, their families, and their communities; family members' responses to their mentally ill relative; rehabilitation and prevention approaches and methods; the nature of delusions and hallucinations; the delusional belief that one is someone else; and the realization of mental stability. "Ladder of Hours "gathers poems written over four decades, a selection that teaches us how insight into everyday life can transform the world. Composed in language that is spare, almost skeletal, yet lacking nothing, "Ladder of Hours "investigates the subtleties of moments we might otherwise overlook. Althaus is interested in everything, from the label on a whiskey bottle to the distance between emotion and idea. His poems explode "ordinary" moments of perception, revealing unexpected meaning and resonance, and they do so in a way that seems strangely without ego, bent entirely on extracting and capturing the essence of his discoveries. "Ladder of Hours "takes us into numinous territory we didn't know was there. "Lullaby" "The painful series of operation that culminate in death: becoming forty, eighty, neither one. Dying young or old, awake or drugged, or pleasantly unaware in sleep as they say Auden wanted to and did, with just the slightest sensation, like a sleeping baby handed from one pair of arms into another." Keith Althaus has published poems in "The New Yorker," "The American Poetry Review," "Poetry," and numerous other magazines. He has worked at many jobs, including carpentry, tree planting, loft renovation, and clerical work, and now runs a gallery with his wife, the artist Susan Baker. They live in North Truro, Massachusetts. Features Summary Minimal yet full of mystery, Althaus poems explore complexities and subtle moments of everyday experience.   2006. Hard cover with dust cover. 482 pages. Very good condition. Under 1kg. Buried Treasure: Travels Through the Jewel Box by Victoria Finlay is a third travelogue, a third social history and a third historical record of the semi-precious jewels we have come to know and cherish. The jewels included in this book are organized from softest to hardest on Mohs' scale. I say jewels and not stones, because the first three entries amber, jet and pearl, are not stones at all, they are made from other organic substances. The rest of the chapters are devoted to opal, peridot, emerald, sapphire, ruby and diamond. In each chapter, Finlay describes her travels to the ancient and modern sources of each jewel that take her to far flung places like Australia, Japan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Egypt, the Baltic Coast, England, and North America. Throughout her travels she encounters people who are directly involved in the production, marketing and distribution of these precious jewels. To me, it seems a bitter blow for the people in the production of jewels that they receive next to nothing for their labours whilst the middlemen and higher-ups become rich from their troubles, but Finlay injects labourer anecdotes with humour and soul that almost make one forget that some live in extreme poverty. The book includes an extensive bibliography and notes for each chapter. there are appendices in the back that include lists of birthstones, anniversary gemstones, Mohs' scale of relative hardness, alternative names, famous diamonds, names for cuts of gems, and glossary of gem words that are wonderfully informative.

Not only concerned with Web design, it also focuses on rules that apply to communicating through the Internet. Think of the dos and don'ts and etiquette in the use of e-mail, chat rooms, and the idea of publishing everything you do or think on social sites, such as Hyves, Facebook, and You Tube. In this series, "ridiculous" is a relative term, because what is nonsense for one can be an important guideline for another. In these books, it is not about laying down the law. For each of the fifty rules covered in each book, Anneloes Van Gaalen refers to quotes by famous fellow designers who either think there is something to the rule or have made a personal variation of it. Whether you agree with them or not, the Ridiculous Design Rules books sharpen your own thoughts about the assumed truths of design, advertising, fashion, photography, and the Internet. Each rule is convincingly illustrated, with the illustrations either confirming or disproving the rule in question. Features Summary Not only about Web design, but also about rules that apply to communicating through the Internet. Author Anneloes Van Gaalen Publisher BIS Publishers B.V. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 15 working days An innovative text that approaches complex concepts with relative ease and simplicity, this new work by internationally-known Graziella Tonfoni takes the reader on an architectural excursion that is the metaphorical representation of the components of the expression of knowledge. Through the progressive building and exploration of consistently designed and complex metaphors, which the author calls "metaphorical environments," the reader will come to understand the building principles upon which to base the construction of multimedia forms. The first section of the book creates the setting for accurately understanding the context and deals with the implications of designing teaching material for a course in information design. Other sections build upon this groundwork using a series of descriptions of actual architectural structures. A final section of visuals is meant to facilitate active learning of those concepts previously introduced. Blank boxes on each page in this last section encourage the reader to re-number the pages to create an individual path that relates the concepts to different sections of the text. Features Summary Through the progressive building and exploration of consistently designed and complex metaphors, the reader is led to understand the building principles upon which the construction of multimedia forms is based. A relative of Longabaugh through marriage, Donna B. Ernst has spent more than a quarter century researching his life. She now brings to print the most thorough account ever of one of the West's most infamous outlaws, tracing his life from his childhood in Pennsylvania to his involvement with the Wild Bunch and, in 1908, to his reputed death by gunshot in Bolivia. Combining genealogical research, access to family records, and explorations in historical archives, Ernst details the Sundance Kid's movements to paint a complete picture of the man. She recounts his homesteading days in Colorado, offers new information on his years as a cowboy in Wyoming and Canada, and cites newly uncovered records that substantiate both his outlaw activities and his attempts at self-reform. While taking readers on the wild chase that became Longabaugh's life, outracing posses and Pinkertons, Ernst corrects inaccuracies in the historical record. She demonstrates that he could not have participated in the Belle Fourche bank heist or the Tipton train robbery and refutes speculations that Butch and Sundance managed to escape their fate in Bolivia. "The Sundance Kid" is enlivened by more than three dozen photographs, including family photos never before seen. Features Summary Uncovers new facts on the outlaw's life and death Author D. B.
