Burnout: Revenge (PS2) Platform: PlayStation2 Condition: New This Title Also Available As: Pre-Owned/Used: Very Good Condition games available Please get in touch for information on these options. Product Information Burnout Revenge lets gamers literally rip cars to shreds All-new cars in three classes (race, muscle and crash) features tracks spanning three continents and inspired by real-world cities - from Detroit to Rome to Tokyo Take Burnout Revenge online for 6 player online action Product Description Burnout: Revenge (PS2) Review Even amongst EAs own stable of titles, Burnout is regarded by many as the best arcade racer of them all and this fourth iteration, subtitled Revenge, looks like being a solid addition to the line. It seems to have wisely realised that the best bit in any of the Burnout games is the amount of destruction you can cause as you race and that all that winning a race malarkey is almost a secondary concern. A new revenge meter tracks exactly how much damage you cause as you play skittles with traffic and try to cause as big a pile-up as possible--an activity that is encouraged even further in the new Traffic Attack mode. The actual revenge of the title though comes into play when you prang a specific rival one too many times and they start to take a personal interest in seeing your car go up in flames. Although it doesnt seem as if the graphics have changed all that much since the last game the level design has certainly become more inventive with huge multi-layer track layouts reminiscent of arcade classic Rave Racer --tearing along an overpass to fall vertically down three levels straight onto an opponents bonnets is pretty special. Although surviving any of the games crashes would be impossible in real-life it has become slightly more realistic in other areas with more car deformation than before and real cities, including Detroit, Rome and Tokyo. Whether the appallingly annoying DJ from the last game is still in it though remains to be seen¬タᆭ-- Harrison Dent This preview is based on an incomplete version of the game; features or problems mentioned above may not appear in the finished game.

Burnout [PS2] Platform: PlayStation2 Condition: New This Title Also Available As: Pre-Owned/Used: Very Good Condition games available Please get in touch for information on these options. Product Information High-risk, arcade-style street racing Rewards dangerous driving 14 traffic-filled courses through cities and the countryside Over 300 vehicles Advanced traffic AI Product Description Burnout is a high-risk, high-energy arcade-style street racer. No learning curve is required; just pick up and play. The game monitors your driver's heart rate, as you're rewarded for near misses. Civilians steer clear! There's only one way to drive in Burnout: dangerously. Force traffic into your opponents' paths and risk a head-on collision to secure a win. Slide, cut close and drive into oncoming traffic and you'll be rewarded for your risk taking. Crashes are based on actual crash and damage physics for extra realism. Instant replays allow you to relive your handiwork from multiple angles in all its cringe-inducing, metal-bashing glory. The advanced traffic AI means civilians try to avoid and warn you while opponents try to slam you off the road. Cruise the US and Europe on 14 awesome, traffic-filled courses through cities and into the countryside. More than 300 vehicles fill the streets and highways, making reckless racing and wild demolition a certainty. Dolby Digital surround sound brings the roar of screeching tires and twisting metal to life, and the analogue controls mean you can feel every turn, skid and crash. Review Like your racing games fast, furious, and full of spectacular smashes? You're in luck. With Burnout, Acclaim remove all pretence of going for a serious simulation and instead serve up a delicious dish of pure arcade fun on the PlayStation 2. There are two key selling points to the game--the speed the action runs at, and the spectacular crashes. To facilitate these, the set-up couldn't be more straightforward, with the aim simply being to be first past the post. You can increase your chances of this by driving more dangerously, although that comes with obvious pitfalls in the shape of those aforementioned smashes. Suffice it to say, though, to get through the game you're going to have to take your chances. Contrary to the serious approach of Gran Turismo 3, this is foot-to-the-pedal stuff, and tremendously good fun to play. And when you do put your proverbial foot down, get ready to move, for this is a blisteringly fast title that deceptively requires more concentration than it would first appear. The downside is that this won't appeal to those who like their racing games nice and serious, nor to those looking for anything particularly innovative. For Burnout has few qualms about marrying the multimedia power of the PlayStation 2 to a game engine that forsakes bells and whistles for speed, destruction and sheer good fun. Fortunately, in this case, it's all the better for it, making it yet another PS2 four wheel treat. -- Simon Brew

Not for sale to persons under age 12. By placing an order for this product, you declare that you are 12 years of age or over. Media: Video Game  See more system requirements Product details Release Date: 24 Nov Features: Over 20 extreme machines for the full off-road driving experience, from monster 8-wheelers to all-terrain vehicles Multiple game modes--racing, destruction, flag hunting, and many more Groundbreaking vehicle physics--fully independent suspension and variable center of gravity are affected by real-time damage Over 25 punishing environments, from deserts to mountains, spread across the globe All the handling styles--front, rear, 4-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive Product Description ReviewIf both distributors and buyers are really unlucky, two similar games get simultaneously released. 4 x 4 Evolution had a small head start on 1NSANE but this Invictus-developed, Codemasters-published game is the superior title. Once again we have an off-road racer with four-wheel drive vehicles--ranging from beach buggies up to trailerless trucks in this game. Once again we have checkpoint-driven racing where you can go off-road as long as you make the checkouts in their designated order. Two other disciplines are added in 1NSANE--capture/return the flag and Jamboree, the latter of which is essentially random checkpoint racing without the track. Ramming other drivers is frankly just another tactic. The claim is made for total freedom and the catch with 1NSANE is the fact that the landscape simply wraps around eventually, even if the degree of freedom is greater than 4x4 Evolution. Also, unlike 4 x 4 Evolution the vehicles can be dented, battered and the axles wrecked, visibly losing parts. This makes you slightly more careful to avoid rollovers and can make the game more frustrating than fun. The only real failing, however, is the miraculous repair some of the computer cars get after some of their crashes. You have to start unlocking the championship modes for better vehicles and tyres for varying surfaces. Once you are a winner, view and save the replay--a standard feature in modern racers. With more destructible scenery, the new Codemasters-centric online multiplayer network and even better physics than 4 x 4 Evolution with damage to match and more varied gameplay, it's easily the best off-road racing game since the Monster Truck Madness series with the same sense of fun. --Kenneth Henry Manufacturer's DescriptionTake your vehicle to the most inhospitable corners of the world--and drive all over them. Insane will make you face a multitude of off-road racing challenges, all geared up for the best in local area network and Internet gaming--including the new Codemasters Multi-player Network. And if the world is not enough, create the course of your nightmares with the unique Environment Generator.
