Made from  Balau Hardwood: - Closed up it is a comfortable  6 - 8 seater (mm length x 900mm width) - Table top Extends in 2(TWO) sections individually, with each section being 300mm in length. You extend the one side and it becomes 2m (mm) in total length. You extend the other side as well and total length of the table top becomes 2.3m (mm). Thus giving you 3 (THREE) table top lengths to choose between, for your convenience, depending how many people you need to accommodate.      To extend the table in sections, just pull back the one side of the table top and a 300mm extension part will come up from underneath the tabletop, into place. Close the side to secure into place. Same goes for the other side of the table, to add another 300mm extension. To "Shorten" the table top length, just "REVERSE" previous actions and the extension will drop away underneath the table top. The wood has a beautiful "rich"  "reddish" colour Balau is a hardwood, also used for outside decking and with the construction of ships. It is a VERY durable hardwood, but if you do expose your Balau furniture for prolonged periods of time to the elements directly, you will have to care for it. Engineered Wood / Veneer Our designers and makers at Furniturespot love to work with engineered wood, also known as veneer. We only use engineered oak for our furniture items because we love the texture of that wood type in combination with the different available finishes. Engineered oak is a solid timber top (0.3 mm of solid oak) in conjunction with a multi-layer MDF base. Thanks to our clever construction, our engineered wood tops do not expand and contract to the same extent as solid wood tops. But our engineered top’s really special feature is the fact that it’s topped off with solid oak, making the end result look just like solid wood but for a much better price! We receive weekly questions why we are using engineered oak and not solid oak throughout. To start with, the price is 400% cheaper than a solid oak top. It is better resistant to the South African climate with no risk of cupping, bowing, cracking of the top and it is easy in maintenance. Do we need to say more?
