Asters come in blue, purple, red, pink, and white each with a yellow center. The name Aster comes from the ancient Greek word for “star.” Asters make for good cut flowers that have a long lasting vase life. Aster seeds should be sown in well-draining, average garden soil in a sunny area after the last frost of the season. The plant grows best in full sun. It will tolerate light shade but growth will be less compact and blooming will be less prolific. Sow seeds in rows 38 to 45cm apart and cover with 6mm of soil. Dianthus "Persian Carpet Mix" Dianthus chinensis dwarf     Cheerful single blooms in many different shades from white to pale pink to carmine red. Blooms are steadily produced until frost. Easy to grow plantsExcellent for use in beds, borders, containers and rock gardens. Plants are long bloomers through summer and autumn and stems are excellent for fragrant, long-lasting and attractive cut flowers. Sow in seedling trays (see our Plastic Seedling Trays) or seed beds. Cover with dry manure or compost about 6mm deep. Do not keep soil too moist during germination. Hen and Chicks - Sempervivum Seeds   A wonderful collection of evergreen, carpet forming succulents with thick, fleshy leaves that form small or large rosettes depending on the variety. Plants spread by producing little offsets (chicks) that cluster around the parent rosettes (hens). The clustered star-shaped summer flowers are often rosy-red but can also appear in shades of pink, yellow, white or green. Excellent in containers or rock gardens.
