The War for Africa.Twelve Months That Transformed a Continent Bridgland, F   ISBN 10: 187480012X ISBN 13: 9781874800125   Item Description: Ashanti Publishing Limited, Gibraltar, 1990. Pale Brown Boards. Book Condition: Very Good +. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition, Second Impression. viii + 403 pp. Maps to end-papers. Illustrated, primarily in black and white. Lamination of the dust-jacket rubbed. Slight spinal lean. Acid-tape marks to the free, end-papers. The final 12 months of the war in Angola in which South Africa fought Cuba's revolutionary armed forces and Angola's Marxist Army, was conceivably the most important combat in the history of the African continent since the end of World War II. It was, however, also a secret war and only now, in this account of the fighting, are many of the wraps removed from the cloak-and-dagger Angolan operations.;The deep crises within South African and Cuban ranks are laid bare. There were disagreements between South African battle-front commanders and their politicians and generals as to how the war should be fought. The war is seen mainly through the eyes of ordinary soldiers who fought it, not those of generals and politicians hundreds of kilometres from the blood, sweat and dust. Size: Royal Octavo. Hard Cover. Bookseller Inventory # 05561 Tall  Stories  Price: R 1250.00 Ordinary  postage within  South  Africa: R 40.00

West Nusa Tenggara 1 dollar Cethosia biblis butterfly fantasy coin 2015 Edition Technical Specs Presentation Country:   Metal Purity:     Box:   No Year of Issue:   2015 Weight:   CoA:   No Face Value:   1 dollar Dimensions:   34     Quality:       Mintage:     New coin with capsule Not official mintage. Fantasy coin.Cethosia biblis is medium-sized butterfly, with a wingspan reaching about 8¿9 centimetres (3.1¿3.5 in). In this species the sexes are dimorphic. In males the dorsal sides of the wings are bright orange-red, framed by a black outline with white spots. The undersides range from bright red to pale brown, interlaced by black and white. This astonishing pattern helps to disguise the shape of the butterfly, while the intense colour of the dorsal sides of the wings is a warning to predators that the Red Lacewing has a bad taste, deriving from the poisonous host plants of the caterpillars. The dorsal sides of the wings of the females are grayish-brownish with black spots and white bands and spots on the black margins. ____________________________________________________  Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

(Johannesburg: Ashanti Publishing, 1991) 1874800243, 1991. 8vo; Very good, as new original pale boards; As new dustwrapper; pictorial endpapers; pp. xiv + 301, incl. index; profusely illustrated with battle plans and photographs. As new condition. "James Ambrose Brown's journal of the life of a South African infantryman in the British North African 8th Army, almost exactly half a century ago, gives a day-to-day account of the campaign in the Western Desert against the redoubtable Rommel's Afrika Korps.. Brown's hour-to-hour depiction of the great battle [of El Alamein] that at last sent the enemy reeling back across North Africa remains a classic. A leading American journal, The Saturday Evening Post, called it 'The greatest worm's eye view of battle to come out of the war so far'. To bring today's reader into the picture, James Ambrose Brown has provided a preamble that sets out the political and military events which led up to World War II and the two years of lost North African battles that almost gave total victory to Germany and Italy. Splendid maps by Dr Richard Wood vividly illustrate the tactical situations described in the diary; they also fill in the gaps in large-scale operations. Lavish use of photographs taken by official war photographers illustrate the text. Also reproduced are sketches done by official war artists who were there. Retreat to Victory is a moving and timeless record of despair and hope; and the ultimate devastation that is left in the path of war."

Sasolburg (Free State)
Savannah Heat  by Kat Martin     Despite her disguise as Silver Jones, tavern maid, Lady Selena Hardwich-Jones was captured by bounty hunters combing the Georgia cost for the runaway with hair pale as spun silver and eyes like soft brown velvet. Forced onto a ship headed for her home in the West Indies, Silver vowed to make her break for freedom. But in the vessel's brash owner she found a will to match her own. Major Morgan Trask was determined to deliver his lovely human cargo safely to the aristocrat he had long admired. Was the ship's dashing captain Silver's stern captor--or her gallant protector? Tormented by doubts, tantalized by desire, Silver's emotions were in turmoil. For a secret shame kept her from telling Morgan. Trask the real reason for her flight, all the while fearing--and yearning --to trust him. As they sailed into treacherous waters, their very lives in peril, Silver and Morgan could no longer deny their hunger for each other... as they surrendered to a passion that burned hotter than the Savannah heat             SOME WEAR AND TEAR
