In the early days of wine making, before stainless steel, farmers would create underground cooling vaults for their wine. On Weltevrede, large areas were dug underground, river stones were brought up from the Breede River by donkey and cart and then cement cisterns were cast. These cisterns would annually be rubbed with molten beeswax to seal each hole and crack and prevent the wine from coming into contact with the raw cement. Since then these cisterns were virtually forgotten. Join us on a unique experience of timelessness, while we take you on a tour of the underground tunnels, including a wine tasting by candlelight. When you walk through the tunnels, you experience the feeling of generations ago: candlelight, silence, spider webs, the dampness and smell of wine aging, oak barrels and burning wicks. Steenberg Vineyards requires the assistance of a tasting ambassador to conduct wine tastings at the base of Table Mountain Cable Car from 15th December th January for 3 hours per day. The successful individual will be well presented, extremely reliable and trustworthy, have basic wine knowledge, be interested in wine and tourism and enjoy meeting new people. Own transport, or alternatively living in the CBD or surrounds imperative. A competitive hourly wage will be offered. I have 8 tickets for the La Lucia Mall Fine Wine Prive . It is being held on the 28th of May at 7pm. The tickets are valued at R150 each, I am selling them for R100 each as I am unable to attend the event. This includes wine tasting, light snacks and entry into lucky draws.
