One of a kind original vintage 1930's, NSDAP Ortsgruppe Westend Ortsfrauenschaftsleitung sign from the office of Magda Goebbels! All advertising signs I have on offer are from the period, they are not the cheap reproductions that are floating around everywhere these days. These are the real McCoy! Most of them come from my grandfather's collection, they were one of his great passions. History of this piece: Magda Goebbels (born Behrend) joined the Nazi movement in 1930 after listening to Josef Goebbels at a Nazi party rally. She became a member of the NS-movement in Berlin-Westend and soon led the local branch of the NSDAP Women's Section (Westend Ortsfrauenschaftsleitung). This is the sign that hung at her office until German capitulation and her subsequent suicide on May 1st 1945. Only one sign hung at that office, my grandfather knew - he was there.......T his is an incredible piece in great condition, nicely curved, some rust along the edges.   ORIGINAL  and very rare uniform  that not many individuals had the need to own or wear as part of the SAAF. Prior to the war, this uniform would been worn for full dress occasions such as parades, funerals, royal functions, and only by career officers of which there were few. Many officers did not own uniforms like this as they were expensive and simply rented them. The dark blue tunic is worn with  red striped stirrup pants and patent leather boots with spurs. White gloves were regulation.  The tunic features a row of oversized  solid brass gilt buttons that are not found on any other uniform. This style was part of the army tradition that had carried on since the time of the RFC and the first world war. The later RAF had long since disbanded this style but since the SAAF retained army ranks and traditions, this uniform was retained. The high red collar features  beautifully embroidered SAAF collar devices, surmounted on a red wool high collar and outlined in gold wire russian braid. The full dress SAAF wing is  hand embroidered in bullion thread.  The pointed gilt bordered  sleeves are similar to the uniforms worn during the first world war and became obsolete by the twenties. Once WWII arrived, these uniforms were never worn again. This uniform for sale is missing the shoulder boards, the pilot wing is loose and so is one collar badge One button on the sidecap has been replaced by a Italian WW2 button and the cap badge is missing Label is intact in pocket of tunic.Tunic is a medium size with armpit to armpit being 46 cm.The pants is a 30 inch waist. Cape Town (Western Cape)
Hard cover, 222 pages. Very good condition. Under 1kg. Fold out Paterson Family Trees Map in the back This book provides both the history of the growth of Port Elizabeth, and the story of John Patterson and his influence on the town. 'The Story of John Patterson and his Times () has been written for three main reasons. Firstly, in all humility, we have tried to follow in the steps of the late John Bond by bringing to the notice of South Africans some more British pioneers of the Nineteenth Century who helped to shape the historical map of the Colony, while acknowledging the brave part played by the stoical Dutch farmers in the development of Algoa Bay. Secondly, we have recreated the life of John Paterson and others connected with him for the interest of their descendants. Finally, in the year , when, on July 17th, Port Elizabeth celebrates the hundredth year of its Municipality we wished to honour Joshua Williamson Kemp, Father of the first Board of Town Commissioners in , and John Paterson - "Whose Monument is Port Elizabeth" - who, already a great statesman in , had his life been spared, might conceivably have overshadowed Cecil Rhodes; not only in the highest parliamentary honours, but as the visionary who first dreamt of extending the boundaries of European influence in Southern Africa.'

Four Flags refers to the four armies Dave Barr fought in, US Marines, Israeli Paratroopers, Rhodesian RLI and the South African Paratroopers, Pathfinders where he lost his legs. PART 1 - US MARINE CORPS VIETNAM 1969-72, ISRAELI DEFENCE FORCE 1975-77 Dave Barr had had a penchant for trouble since day one, born in the back of a car, shooting by the time he was five, riding a motorbike at seven, Dave regularly got into fights at school. The only reading Dave would do growing up involved motorbikes, shooting, westerns and the military. After reading Battle Cry by Leon Uris aged 12 he knew he wanted to be a Marine. Following a series of menial jobs, working at a barbers and in service stations, at 17 he joined the Marines before shipping out to Vietnam. This was his dream come true, flying as a helicopter gunner, he ended the war with an impressive 57 Air Medals. After leaving the Marines, like many veterans Dave found it hard to hold down a good job and stay out of trouble. It was then that he read about Israel. Always looking for a rush Dave learnt to skydive before he deciding to take his chances, emigrating illegally to Israel. He was inducted into the Israeli Army and then the Paratroopers, where the training was difficult, involving long tough marches, and learning Hebrew. After serving his time he left Israel - back in the USA, Dave was stuck in a rut and ready for his next adventure This is the first volume in the gripping and action-packed memoirs of Dave Barr, providing a rich and colourful account of one man's odyssey as a professional soldier, seeing war at the 'sharp end'. First published December 2015. Paperback, 300 pages.
