Book "Love Hope Marvels" by Bryan Hattingh - Signed and inscribed 2016   Love, Hope, Marvels is a collection of Bryan Hattingh’s realisations on the human condition, business, love, family, and creativity. It is filled with insightful essays, lucid musings, and exquisite photography, exhibiting a vision of Bryan’s colour-rich world. He has woven a tapestry of his perceptions and learning so that any reader might use those threads of Bryan’s experiences for his or her own tapestry of life, unlocking the reader’s potential to embrace all the colours of existence, and marvel at this wonderful experience called life. “In the context of the world … we need HOPE more than anything. And HOPE is brought by LOVE, and we will MARVEL at the outcome of this! Buy this book as a gift to you or someone, and start the journey of HOPE. Wonderful uplifting words in beautiful fonts and colours, accompanied by stunning photographs. A coffee table book … to grab for inspiration!” — Mardia van der Walt, Chairman of the Board of Directors: T-Systems South Africa; Director: Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce “Bryan writes with the sensitivity of one who has not simply observed the world, but instead dived in head-long into this thing we call life … His writing … goes from the deeply spiritual to the patently pragmatic … Bryan’s gift is to paint with an artist’s brush the journey of life so that it is both art and path at once … So many of the books … focus exclusively on our strengths and abilities and how to unleash these to win big in business. Bryan dares to remind us that we live lives in which we also fall in love. Love is a state of grace in which we allow ourselves to be weak and even vulnerable but ultimately redeemed by its power.” — Sindi Maboso Koyana, CEO Advanced Capital “As Coenraad [Jonker] points out in his introduction, [Love, Hope, Marvels] is something to be dipped into at leisure and at random, with the certainty that every page contains something very much worth reflecting on. If I had to pick a personal favourite text, it would be, ‘One of the greatest tasks of a leader is recognising, understanding and managing paradox’. This is a profound insight – and one that I’m truly grateful to see in print … [The] photos are magnificent – I refuse to pick a favourite among these. They’re all great.” — Sim Tshabalala, CEO Standard Bank.

Our books are protected with a removable plastic cover and sent with care. Condition: Good. This book celebrates the endurance of the Native American Church, which now has some 80 chapters throughout the country. Prayer meetings, the sacramental use of peyote, and the significance of various practices and objects are described. Eloquent testimony of Church members from different tribes demonstrates that peyote is not used to obtain "visions" but to heal the body and spirit and to teach righteousness. "Two very important books have appeared in 1996: 'Reuben Snake: Your Humble Serpent' and 'One Nation Under God: The Triumph of the Native America Church.' I say they're important because they are designed for the U.S. Government and the American people as an audience. The books are not teaching Indigenous people about peyote; they're documents to voice the concerns of indigenous Nations, to protect those of us who participate in the spirituality of peyote -- as members of the Native American Church or as individuals". (The Native American Press, Ojibwe News)" "One Nation Under God is an essential and informative contribution to Native American studies reading lists". (The Midwest Book Review)" Reuben Snake's personal testimony on behalf of the sacred peyote is seconded and supported by the chapter 'Voices of the Native American Church, ' which presents a persuasive collection of short, heartfelt testimonials... about the life-affirming teachings of love and respect that are at the heart of the peyote way". 'Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendia was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice' Gabriel Garcia Marquez's great masterpiece is the story of seven generations of the Buendia family and of Macondo, the town they have built. Though little more than a settlement surrounded by mountains, Macondo has its wars and disasters, even its wonders and its miracles. A microcosm of Columbian life, its secrets lie hidden, encoded in a book, and only Aureliano Buendia can fathom its mysteries and reveal its shrouded destiny. Blending political reality with magic realism, fantasy and comic invention, One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the most daringly original works of the twentieth century. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 12 working days "A highly original and often hypnotic work... exactly the type of book that readers in search of striking European voices should embrace" John Boyne, author of THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS A contemporary Berlin fairy tale that bristles with urban truths - the first novel of Germany's best-known contemporary playwright One clear, ice-cold January morning shortly after dawn, a wolf crosses the border between Poland and Germany. His trail leads all the way to Berlin, connecting the lives of disparate individuals whose paths intersect and diverge. On an icy motorway eighty kilometres outside the city, a fuel tanker jack-knifes and explodes. The lone wolf is glimpsed on the hard shoulder and photographed by Tomasz, a Polish construction worker who cannot survive in Germany without his girlfriend. Elisabeth and Micha run away through the snow from their home village, crossing the wolf's tracks on their way to the city. A woman burns her mother's diaries on a Berlin balcony. And Elisabeth's father, a famous sculptor, observes the vast skeleton of a whale in his studio and asks: What am I doing here? And why? Experiences and encounters flicker past with a raw, visual power, like frames in a black and white film. Those who catch sight of the wolf see their own lives reflected, and find themselves searching for a different path in a cold time. This first novel of Germany's most celebrated contemporary playwright is written in prose of tremendous power and precision.
