South Africa (All cities)
Having left English public schooling Nick decided that he should return to Rhodesia in 1979 to enlist. This is a story of how, having joined up, he had his leg amputated at the age of 17 and continued to serve as a trained combat medic for both the Rhodesian Forces and later the Zimbabwe National Army. This is his story of having served in the Rhodesian Light Infantry and discharged aged 20 years old, how he survived and made a life for himself despite being an amputee. His anecdotal story of life after Rhodesia and how, as an ex-serviceman, he managed to make his way in the cut-throat commercial world of South Africa. Being a medical story there is dark humour, some gore and the everyday experiences of living and running a business in modern South Africa. Paperback, 162 pages.
