Mandela Robben Island 1/2 oz. Gold Medallion Quality: proof Gold Weight: 1/2 ounce pure gold, 24 karat (.999 Au) Diameter: 27mm Issue Limit: Robben Island, whose prison was once home to former South African president Nelson Mandela as well as many other black political freedom fighters, is now a world heritage site and provides stunning views across Cape Town’s bay with Table Mountain as its backdrop. This much anticipated addition to the series is the first to feature both Mandela and Robben Island on the same Medallion and undoubtedly the most sought after in the entire range as it never reached the shelves in the stores because it was sold out in less than 5 days as a pre-launch 4 weeks before consignment was even shipped from the Mint of Norway The face of the medallion has Nelson Mandela's bust on it. The other side pictures the profile of Table Mountain overlooking an aerial view of Robben Island. It has the words ROBBEN ISLAND and the dates commemorating Nelson Mandela’s tenure of imprisonment on the island. These medallions are minted by the mint of Norway and have a limited mintage of alluding to celebration of the year of the Soccer World Cup hosted in South Africa. Nelson Mandela Hand Print Limited edition; numbered and signed of his “Impressions of Africa Series” – “Left Hand Black” (154/500). A print from the edition is currently for sale at the Belgravia Gallery – the gallery that was honoured to be associated with Mandela’s initiative – for £9,000.00. https://belgraviagallery.com/artist/nelson-mandela/mpressions-of-africa-black-white/ The print is unframed and currently resides in Europe with a certificate of authenticity established by the eminent South African signature expert, Cecil Greenfield. Printed on Velin BFK Rives paper. The printing was done under the supervision of Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town by Professor Stephen Inggs and Tamarind Institute Master Printer Ernestine White. Some background to the print: Throughout history few have left so indelible an imprint on the international stage as Nelson Mandela. His courage, his compassion and his humanity are among the qualities that have led to this Nobel laureate being recognized as one of the world's greatest statesman. Never did a single individual more powerfully symbolize the hopes of a nation. South Africa became free in the way that it did because his hand reached out to all and thus his name became a beacon of hope to oppressed peoples throughout the world. With this limited edition, Nelson Mandela aimed to raise awareness of the devastating effects of HIV afflicting millions throughout the World – mostly Africa – amongst which a large number of children. Nelson Mandela’s left hand print is surrounded by imprints of the hands of children affected by HIV. The numbers of those already afflicted by this terrible disease are truly appalling and the forecasts are absolutely chilling. Nelson Mandela, once again reached out to answer the new cry from those suffering in his beloved country. Each print sold contributes to the Nelson Mandela’s Children Fund. As mentioned above the print is currently unframed and resides in Europe and can be shipped to SA. Open to negotiate a price closest to the asking value. A4 size softcover book brand new. R45 postage in SA.   ‘ … You know that you are really famous the day that you discover that you have become a comic character!’ - Nelson Mandela  Nelson Mandela was called a terrorist, forced into hiding, captured, threatened with the death penalty and eventually thrown into jail for twenty-seven years, but nothing could stop him from fighting to liberate his country from the evil of apartheid. A hero in the struggle against a terrible regime, he never gave up. Even when he was a prisoner, he worked secretly with his comrades to undermine the oppressive apartheid government. This is the exciting true story of a young herd boy who was to grow up to become a lawyer, a freedom fighter, South Africa’s first democratically elected president and the beloved grandfather of a nation. It is told here in words and pictures for the young and the young at heart: a story to read with enjoyment and remember with pride.

The Struggles Series 5.82” x 8.26” Hand Signed, Limited Edition 6 x Lithographs unframed in limited edition black box The Struggle Series collection contains five illustrations, a sixth page containing a written paragraph by Nelson Mandela. Chronicling the phases signifying his remarkable life, these prints are individually numbered and personally signed in a limited edition series. "These sketches are not so much about my life as they are about my own country. I drew hands because they are powerful instruments, hands can hurt or heal, punish or uplift. They can also be bound but a quest for righteousness can never be repressed. In time, we broke loose the shackles of injustice, we joined hands across social divides and national boundaries, between continents and over oceans and now we look to the future, knowing that even if age makes us wiser guides, it’s the youth that reminds us of love, trust and the value of life” -Nelson Mandela ()   Only 950 of these limited edition box sets where made and sold out immediately in . They are limited edition art works and are signed by Nelson Mandela himself. These are sold unframed and in the original limited edition box. Please contact me if interested, only serious buyers. Other numbers in this series sell for as much as $ in the US and pounds in the UK. Contact me via email if interested and we can arrange a viewing. Thank you
