My Mac was always protected by a hardcase polycarbonate cover (Speck) since I purchased in October .  However, a fall from half a meter about 6 months ago bent the screen (see pic).  I have been using it without any problem for the past six months but have now purchased a new Mac as I could not justify R for replacing the screen.  You can either use as is or break up for parts.
