  Lobelia Emperor William A compact plant with bright green leaves. The small, bright blue cheerful flowers look good in any garden, but also in balcony boxes and pots. The seeds are very fine, so take care and sow thinly in seed trays (See our Plastic Seedling Trays). Keep permanently lightly moist. The plants are pricked out in small bunches in pots and are transplanted when large enough to handle. Lobelia Emperor William seeds give beautiful flowers all year round. Lobelia wollastonii Seeds Lobelia wollastonii is from 2-7m tall when in flower. It has a woody stem with hairy leaves in a large rosette. It has a dense inflorescence. The calyx & pedicels are densely shaggy and the blue corollas split to base on the back. This species naturally occurs in Uganda. Clarkia speciosa, sometimes known as redspot clarkia. Clarkia speciosa blooms late spring - early summer. Clarkia speciosa is a   perennial.  Clarkia is a plant that is named after William Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition, because it was discovered growing in the western U.S. by members of the expedition. Features: The clarkia's flowers can be single or double and measure from 50 TO 100MM across, and the colors can range from deep rose to lilac, light pink to white. Clarkia can grow to a height of about 60cmt and a width of about 20cm. Environment: Clarkias need sandy soil and either full sun (6 hours of sunshine a day) or partial shade (4 to 6 hours of shade a day). They are native to the forests of the Northwest and do better in cool rather than hot areas. Planting: Clarkia seeds can be sown directly in the garden in early spring. When the seeds sprout, thin them out to one every 15 to 20cm. Flowers will appear in about 3 months. Care: Water enough to keep the soil moist, but not soggy until the flowers appear--then cut back on watering. When the plants are15cm  in height, pinch back the tops. This will make them branch out.
