An interesting QSA / WW1 medal group correctly named to 21899 Tpr. A.S.C.Hartigan - 106th Coy, Imp:Yeo. The BWM is named to 8/ Sgt A.S.C.Hartigan - S.A.N.L.C. The War Merit Medal (Kriegsverdienstmedaille) was a World War II German military decoration awarded to recognize outstanding service by civilians in connection with the war effort. The medal was restricted to civilians - both German and non-German - and was awarded predominantly to those working in war factories. The soldered eye-ring is missing. NOTE: Out of respect and due to the sensitivity of certain symbols associated with the German military, where necessary these have been blanked out. These are however a part of our history that cannot be erased. "Lest we forget..." is a phrase we often hear in war commemorative occasions.
