Hugh Tracey was a British-born ethnomusicologist, who with his wife, collected and archived music from central and southern Africa. In 1954 he founded the International Library of African Music. The book is in good condition overall, but has three tape residue marks on the back boards, and similar on the front. There is a fine split starting on the top of the front spine. The front board is slightly warped and stands away from the rest of the book if laid flat. The top and side of the page edges are a bit discoloured. It was first published in 1967 by Routledge and Kegan Paul Ltd, and is signed by Hugh Tracey.
