Naylor / Royal Mint Pretoria Date: 1938 Ref: 32.2 mm Bronzed Base Metal 14.5 gm $7 Edge: Plain   Obverse: A Voortrekker wagon drawn by four oxen moving to the right over rocky ground. Beside the wagon, a man wielding a whip followed by a dog. In the background, trees with mountains behind and clouds above. Legend: “VOORTREKKEREEUFEES (voortrekker centenary)” and in the exergue: “1938”. Above the exergue line, signed: “E N (left) R.M.P (right)”. Gold medal stamped: "9c" in the middle.   Reverse: A map of South Africa depicting the various routes taken by the Voortrekkers. Some eventful landmarks marked: “SLAGTERS NEK”, “VEGKOP”, “P.M.BURG” and “BLOED R”. Legend above: “DIE GROOT TREK”, and below: “1838”.   Notes: Gold, silver and bronze medals issued in a blue oblong case lined with white silk and blue velvet marked: "RMP" on the inside of the lid.
