Jack s gold medal

This bottle  commemorates the Gold Medal award won in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Europe). This was the last bottle in the US Gold Medal line. Don’t miss out on this rare piece of Jack Daniel’s history.

  A Comrades Marathon Gold Medal. Awarded to Nick Raubenheimer who tied for 4th place in the 1960 up run with Trevor Allen in a time of 6h42m30s (see results image). In those days gold medals were only awarded to the first six competitors.   Obverse design by E.G. Kerby and Co., Jewellers of Pietermaritzburg and struck at South African Mint. Further information at South African Commemorative Medals. 9ct Gold (so stamped on back). Diameter 29.2 mm. Mass 12.9 gm. In originate SA Mint case of issue. This medal is stamped: “FOUNDER’S YEAR” on the obverse presumably to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the marathon by Vic Chapman. Raubenheimer competed in 22 runs (see images) between 1953 and 1975. He won 6 gold medals (1956, 1957, 1958, 1960, 1961 and 1964). His last win was as a veteran runner (over 40) and he came first in that class.

A Gold Shooting Medal Awarded for the Natal Cadet Bisley Competition in June 1907. Coat of arms of the Colony of Natal on the front. Won by (Cadet) Sergeant Major Fletcher of Bellair School, Durban. 9ct gold. Across 22.3 mm. Mass 5.7 gm. Stamped on the back with the maker's mark of Elkington & Co Ltd., Birmingham and the London hallmarks for 9 ct gold with the dated letter m (for 1907-8).
