Please select your seed variety from the drop down list above.  As we all by now know, there is no such thing as special bonsai seeds. All seeds used to grow bonsai would develop the same way as the full sized parent plant. There is however much truth in the fact that seed collected from specific parent plants with desirable characteristics are preferred to those which are not. I have identified and selected from our indigenous flora, species most suited and easy to cultivate from seed. Our seed is supplied by leading seed specialists that regularly go on collecting trips and in this way ensure the seed is as fresh as possible. We currently stock: Acacia galipini (Monkey-thorn) Diospyros whyteana (Bladder-nut) Celtis Africana (White Stinkwood) Podocarpus falcatus (Outeniqua Yellowwood) Ficus Natalensis (Natal Fig) Olea europaea subsp. africana (Wild Olive) To ensure success with these seeds please purchase our Professional Seedling Mix and sow your seeds in plastic trays; select from our numerous sizes here.

Diascia is a genus of around 70 species of annual and perennial flowering herbs of the Scrophulariaceae family, native to southern Africa, including South Africa, Lesotho and neighbouring areas. The perennial species are found mainly in summer-rainfall areas such as the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg; about 50 species, mostly annuals, are found in the Western Cape and Namaqualand, winter rainfall areas. Their common name is twin spur, in reference to the two (usually downward-pointing) spurs to be found on the back of the flower. These help to distinguish them from the similar (and closely related) genera Alonsoa and Nemesia. The spurs contain a special oil, which is collected in the wild by certain species of bees that appear to have coevolved with the plants, as they have unusually long forelegs for collecting the oil. In gardens, diascia cultivars (mostly hybrids) have become extremely popular as colourful, floriferous, easily grown bedding plants in recent years. Sow in autumn, this showy attractive annual growing to 60cm has stunning violet blue flowers. Haworthia is a large genus of small succulent plants, mostly endemic to South Africa. Like Gasteria and Aloe, they are members of the family Asphodeloideae and they generally resemble miniature aloes, except in their flowers, which are characteristic in appearance. Horticulturally they are popular rockery garden and container plants. Typically they range from 4 cm to 20 cm high, depending on the species, though the inflorescences of some species may exceed 40 cm. Solitary or clump-forming most species have firm, tough leaves, usually dark green in color, whereas others are softer and are window plants with translucent panels through which sunlight can reach internal photosynthetic tissues. Their flowers are small, white and very similar between species. But their leaves show wide variations even within one species.           The charm of Haworthias is in their small size, ease of growth, and the almost infinite variation of their delightful leaves. Haworthias rarely require a pot larger than 10cm in diameter making them ideally suited for a bright windowsill. Perhaps the biggest problem you will encounter when growing Haworthias is that they tend to be addictive! Haworthia attenuata var. radula is a South African indigenous succulent. This variety of Haworthia attenuata, an endemic species, is differentiated because of its smaller and more numerous tubercles. The leaves are rougher rather than tuberculate. The leaves are more slender and longer. It is a very attractive plant in cultivation as the many tubercles give the plant a silvery appearance. Haworthia attenuata var. radula is an easy species and doesn't require any special growing conditions.
