Being the author of numerous scientific works (including `My heart is given to children`) and many fiction books for children, he devoted all his life to children. 33 years he worked as a director of Pavliv secondary school in Kirovohrad region, cultivating civil dignity and faith in a human being and bringing up children to love their native land.On the coin obverse a horizontal composition is depicted based on Sukhomlynskyi`s books. The composition contains primarily depiction of children having and books.
