Crushed at the Welgevallen Winery in Stellenbosch, the wines produced focus on high quality, careful crafting and distinct flavours. The Roman Emperor Probus was responsible for taking this cultivar up the Rhone in the year 281AD where it eventually found its spiritual home of today in the Rhone Appellation of Condrieu. This wine pays hommage to Probus. Intensely aromatic Hints of orange blossom, ginger snap, peach and lime marmarlade, followed by a lush and opulent pallet of honey-suckle, melon and apricot Deliciously round and soft with a long lingering finish

This wine is called The Dalmatian on account of the minimal portions of the Viognier cultivar used in the blend, either co-fermented, or in topping barrels, depending on the vintage, as the Viognier grape is reported as having its origins from the Dalmatian coast (in current day Croatia). Delicate hints of violets and dark black forest fruits on the nose Luscious, rich, ripe and round palate of layered Christmas pudding flavours, tightly packed, with soft tannins, and an elegant finish
