First edition published by Klerksdorp Record in 1939. 262pp. Book is in fine condition. Dust jacket is in poor condition as the spine has suffered some loss and has tears. Herman Guest succeeded his father, Herbert Guest, as proprietor and editor of The Klerksdorp Record. Both were former Mayors of Klerksdorp. Guest Sr. wrote and published books in Klerksdorp about the Boer War while the town was practically in a state of siege. His works include 'With Lord Methuen and the First Division, 'Vicissitudes of a Transvaal Dorp, & Incidents in the Western Transvaal'. Guest Jr. was a dedicated historian and researcher of Klerksdorp's history. He completed this manuscript shortly before his death in June 1939 and it was published without any modification or amendment.
