The warm, balsamic and aromatic flavor of oregano makes it the perfect addition to Mediterranean and Mexican cuisines. This popular herb whose name means "mountain joy" is available throughout the year. Oregano is known botanically as Origanum vulgare and is called wild marjoram in many parts of Europe since it is closely related to the herb that we know as sweet marjoram. It is a small shrub with multi-branched stems covered with small grayish-green oval leaves and small white or pink flowers. In Mediterranean climates oregano grows as a perennial plant, but in the harsher climates of North America, they grow as annuals.   10 seeds per pack.  Growing guide included.  Only 1 shipping fee for multiple orders

Garden cress (Lepidium sativum) is a fast-growing, edible herb that is botanically related to watercress and mustard, sharing their peppery, tangy flavour and aroma. In some regions, garden cress is known as garden pepper cress, pepper grass, pepperwort or poor man's pepper. This annual plant can reach a height of 60 cm (~24 inches), with many branches on the upper part. The white to pinkish flowers are only 2 mm (1/12 of an inch) across, clustered in branched racemes. Garden Cress is added to soups, sandwiches and salads for its tangy flavour. It is also eaten as sprouts, and the fresh or dried seed pods can be used as a peppery seasoning (haloon). ANISE - PIMPINELLA ANISUM Growing Anise Sow directly in the garden after all danger of frost has passed.  Give this plant plenty of room as it will grow about 60cm tall.  Thin the seedlings to about one every 40cm when they have two true leaves.  The tall fern like plant will have lots of flowers if treated well. Water and fertilize normally.  This plant is originally from the Mediterranean, where it has been cultivated for hundreds of years.  Pliny and Theophrastus mention the plant.  Now it is cultivated widely. The leaves, flowers, and seeds have a licorice taste and are harvested for use in flavoring breads and other foods.  The seeds are harvested just before they are completely ripe.  This is where the essential oils concentrate. Anise, like licorice, can raise the blood pressure, so be cautious when using this herb.  If you bake a lot of sweets, however, you may wish to grow this herb to flavor them.  The seeds can be soaked in vodka and the resulting liquid used sparingly as the flavoring agent.  Alternatively, you can take the seeds and dry sugar and store them together in a tightly closed container and the oils will penetrate the sugar and flavor that.  You can then add the flavored sugar to your treats.     CLICK ON SHIELD TO VIEW OUR OTHER ITEMS:
