In this book I demystify some of the myths I also believed about God before I came to know Him. The way He was portrayed to me as a young person and the God I have met are worlds apart. I have always thought of Him as this big angry guy sitting up in heaven looking to punish us and wanting to cramp our style. I dont know whether it is some preaching I got exposed to or lies from the enemy but He is not who I thought He was and I felt robbed. That led me to write this book to demystify Him a bit and as I uncover His heart of a Dad to share that with others that might be having the same misconceptions about Him I also had. In the book I look at Who He is, the Trinity and the role of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. I also look at His purposes and His ways through the Word and His relevance in our modern society. The book also focuses on the names of God either given by His people or the names He calls Himself. The book looks at the meaning of these names, their sources and how they reflect on the nature of God. It also touches on my personal experiences where the word manifested leading to spiritual experiences with the living God.

It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days From Plato to Wittgenstein and religions from Judaism to the Hindu tradition, interspersed with divine influences from Classical Greece, Romantic poetry, and the occasional scene from 'Alien', 'God: A Guide for the Perplexed' charts the path of humanity's great spiritual odyssey: the search for God. Leading the way through this minefield is acclaimed philosopher-theologian Keith Ward, blending the sublime and the eclectic in a narrative which offers wit, erudition and moments of genuine pathos. As a survey of the different manifestations of God through the centuries, and an examination of humanity's search for the divine, this is an engaging and informative book. As a deeply moving testament to our endless capacity for spiritual hope, it is compulsive reading for anyone interested in, or embarking on, the great quest for meaning. 'A lively and very clearly written discussion summarizing and criticizing the thoughts of many significant thinkers.' Times Literary Supplement 'Wry but delightfully non-ironic, intelligent and clear, this book is a blessing. ' Publishers Weekly 'Highly informed, witty and immensely accessible. One of the most congenial, lively and informative introductions to this field.' (This title is available on demand: expected date of dispatch will be 4-7 working days once ordered) Now in paperback, "God Grew Tired of Us" is a book with passion, sadness, fear, perseverance, joy and humor written by John Dau, a member of the Dinka tribe of southern Sudan, who recounts his experiences as a refugee from the civil war that has been fought in his country since 1983 and resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese. Among the millions of refugees who sought refuge in neighboring countries were a group of about 20,000 children - most between the ages of 7 and 16, and many of them orphaned - who became separated from their families, and were forced to make their way, alone, across thousands of miles of treacherous landscape to a U.N. refugee camp in Kakuma, Kenya. Along the way, more than half would succumb to starvation, disease, and attack.Dau, a 12 year-old when the war broke out, led 1,200 children on the flight from Sudan, 60 percent of them between 4 and 9 years old. Dau emigrated to the U.S. in 2001, and with humour and appreciation recounts the culture shock that resulted when traditional tribal culture collided with modern American society; the joy of reuniting with his family; and his tireless work giving back to the people of the Sudan. The award-winning film featuring his story was narrated by actress Nicole Kidman and won the 2006 Sundance Film Festival's "Grand Jury" and "Audience" awards. Format:Paperback Pages:304
