Lovely piece. Regarded as vintage as seems to be in the style of Paris scenes of the '50's.  It has me stymied as regards whether it is an original or print. It is so real that through the magnifying glass looks to be the real thing. It has no pixels. However the only way to tell is to remove from the framing which I am not going to do. Priced to go. I cannot online track this artist which looks like Henry. Any input always appreciated. It measures approximately with frame height 45cm and the length across 53cm. Wilhelm Ploner's fascination with the colours of our scenery in South Africa is clearly depicted in this lovely oil on board of a farm scene. WILHELM “WILLIE” HERBERT PLONER BORN – VIENNA, AUSTRIA Though not distinguishing himself in art at school, Willie, as he's better known, confesses that he drew and painted a bit.  At age 18 he became more focused and enrolled at the Kunsthockschule in Vienna.  Having learned the basics he found that Austria was quite restrictive in spite of the sixties revolution in arts and music which transpired in Britain and the U.S.A. In he immigrated to South Africa and was immediately overwhelmed by the colours, contrasts and total abundance of wildlife and scenery – not to mention space. Willie became more confident and competent in both oils and acrylics as his landscapes, floral studies and portraiture began to show.  He learned by criticism and the way in which his commissions were received.  Galleries were soon taking up his work and the requests for portraiture increased. This suited Willie’s style of insightful realism, preferring to work from photographic references rather than from real life sittings.  “They always want to talk and fidget and then my concentration wavers”, Willie comments. Many of his portraits have been given as gifts without the knowledge of the subjects. Size: 75cmx60cm (Framed), 60cm x 44cm (Unframed) - Good condition   Some more notable names and portraits completed are of Nelson Mandela, Louis Luyt, Cyril Ramaphosa and Tokyo Sexwale.

Please feel free to contact me if you really want an item and we can make a plan !   Vintage Catholic Sacred Heart of Jesus Home Enthronement Certificate A religious practice that is growing considerably in popularity in this country today is the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart. It grew out of a promise made by Christ to Margaret Mary Alocoque: "I will bless every house in which an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored." The idea of the Enthronement is that "in the Christian home a throne of love and veneration is erected for the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and that His sovereign rights over the family be thereby recognized." The practice is an external recognition of the fact that Christ is the real head of the home. It is not merely a passing act of consecration to the Sacred Heart but a permanent state of devotion and love. The Enthronement itself is a simple procedure. A picture (or image) of the Sacred Heart is secured. On a chosen day, the pastor is invited to the home to read the Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart for the family and to bless the picture and the home. It is then "enthroned" in a prominent place in the home. The names of the members of the family, living and deceased, are customarily inscribed on a scroll and placed with the picture. The Act of Consecration should be renewed by the family members monthly, and on special occasions. Framed (not behind glass) Slight damp damage on frame back which has warped backing slightly but does not affect certificate.  One slight tiny blurring scuff on wording. Has not been used – no names filled in.   Approx 47 cm x 37 cm.
