Three rebellious, bootlegging brothers find the elusive American Dream within their reach, and fight to maintain their grip as powerful urban gangsters reap the rewards of their hard work in this sprawling Great Depression-era crime drama from director John Hillcoat (THE ROAD, THE PROPOSTIONn). At the height of Prohibition, ambitious country boy Jack Bondurant dreams of becoming 'Public Enemy #1' while reaping all the benefits that go with the gangster lifestyle. By expanding his family's moonshining business, he plots to launch a vast criminal empire while winning the heart of beautiful Amish girl Bertha. With his older, intimidating brother Howard by his side, Jack has the brawn to get the job done, too. In 1931, in Franklyn County, Virginia, Forrest Bondurant is a legend as immortal after surviving the war. Together with his brothers Howard and the coward Jack, the Bondurant family has a distillery and bootlegging business. When the corrupt District Attorney Mason Wardell arrives in Franklyn with the unscrupulous Special Deputy Charles Rakes, the Bondurant family refuses to pay the required bribe to the authorities. Rakes pursuits the brothers and unsuccessfully tries to find their distillery. Meanwhile Forrest hires the waitress Maggie, a woman with a hidden past in Chicago, and they fall in love with each other. Jack courts the preacher’s daughter Bertha Minnix and deals a great load of alcoholic liquor with the powerful gangster Floyd Banner. Jack shows off in Franklyn attracting the attention of Rakes that finds the location of their distillery. When he kills the crippled Cricket Pate, the locals join forces to face the corrupt authorities.

Thornton Freeland directs this 1930s British comedy starring Jack Buchanan, Walter Rilla and Googie Withers. Having worked hard as an insurance investigator for a number of years, John Forrest (Buchanan) may believe that he is entitled to a quiet retirement. However, when an extremely valuable stash of jewels belonging to Prince Homouska (Rilla) go missing from his former employers, John finds himself called back into action to get to the bottom of the matter. This is much to the annoyance of his wife Alice (Withers), who was arguably looking forward to her husband's retirement more than he was. Can John rediscover his old magic and sort out one last case?

It's the Old West of 1880, and Brando stars as Kid Rio, who along with his partner, Dad Longworth (Karl Malden) are bank robbers who are caught holding up a Mexican bank. Longworth gets away and allows his partner to get caught and go to jail. When Rio is released five years later, he goes out to seek revenge; however, he is surprised to find his partner is married with a stepdaughter and sheriff of a town. Complications set in when Rio himself falls in love with the stepdaughter.Filmed in VistaVision and Technicolor in Monterey, California and Mexico. Co-produced by High Desert Films. Feature film debut for actress Pina Pellicer. Director Sam Peckinpah wrote the first draft of the screenplay, but was replaced by Stanley Kubrick, the film's original director.
