Flax is an erect annual plant growing to 1.2 m (3 ft 11 in) tall, with slender stems. The leaves are glaucous green, slender lanceolate, 2040 mm long and 3 mm broad. The flowers are pure pale blue, 1525 mm diameter, with five petals; they can also be bright red. Various parts of the plant have been used to make fabric, dye, paper, medicines, fishing nets, hair gels, and soap. Flax seed is the source of linseed oil, which has uses as an edible oil, as a nutritional supplement and as an ingredient in many wood finishing products. It is also grown as an ornamental plant in gardens. The Inca also used this to create bowstring.   Please familiarise yourself with the shipping info below Shipping Rates are as listed below Approximate processing and transit times are listed below PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE OF SOUTH AFRICA

The Yellow Bird of Paradise - Strelitzia reginae 'Mandela's Gold' - is a rare, yellow form of the famous orange Bird of Paradise. This spectacular cultivar has flaring, yellow sepals and blue petals reminiscent of a crested tropical bird. Like the orange form, it is easy to grow in the right conditions. Related to Heliconias and Bananas, the Yellow Bird of Paradise looks similar to the orange form, but it slightly smaller, growing to 4 feet tall.  This South African native eventually multiplies into a large colony of plants several feet across.  It blooms throughout the year in mild climates.  The tall flower stalks rise above the foliage, with a beak-like spathe growing outward, about 6 inches in length.  The bright yellow sepals spread out to invite birds to perch on the blue petals, which contain nectar.  The blooms make very long lasting cut flowers.  'Mandela's Gold' was named in honor of South African statesman, Nelson Mandela. 10 SEEDS PER PACK GROWING INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED

ANISE - PIMPINELLA ANISUM Growing Anise Sow directly in the garden after all danger of frost has passed.  Give this plant plenty of room as it will grow about 60cm tall.  Thin the seedlings to about one every 40cm when they have two true leaves.  The tall fern like plant will have lots of flowers if treated well. Water and fertilize normally.  This plant is originally from the Mediterranean, where it has been cultivated for hundreds of years.  Pliny and Theophrastus mention the plant.  Now it is cultivated widely. The leaves, flowers, and seeds have a licorice taste and are harvested for use in flavoring breads and other foods.  The seeds are harvested just before they are completely ripe.  This is where the essential oils concentrate. Anise, like licorice, can raise the blood pressure, so be cautious when using this herb.  If you bake a lot of sweets, however, you may wish to grow this herb to flavor them.  The seeds can be soaked in vodka and the resulting liquid used sparingly as the flavoring agent.  Alternatively, you can take the seeds and dry sugar and store them together in a tightly closed container and the oils will penetrate the sugar and flavor that.  You can then add the flavored sugar to your treats.     CLICK ON SHIELD TO VIEW OUR OTHER ITEMS:

Seeds and All offer you a Premium Cactus Mix, selected from a large variety of species. The seeds are easy to germinate and growing them requires very little effort. Most make excellent potted plants, do very well in raised beds and rockeries and make fascinating landscaping features. They require well-drained sandy to gravel soil to perform at their best.  Cacti come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Some grow to great size. Cactus flowers are large, and like the spines and branches arise from areoles. Many cactus species are night-blooming, as they are pollinated by nocturnal insects or small animals, principally moths and bats. Cacti range from small and round to pole-like and tall, such as the Saguaro.           Cacti are distinctive and unusual plants which have adapted to extreme arid environments, showing a wide range of anatomical and physiological features which conserve water. Their stems have expanded into green succulent structures containing the clorophyll necessary for life and growth, while the leaves have become the spines for which cacti are so well known. Cacti are believed to have evolved in the last 30 to 40 million years. Long ago, the Americas were joined to the other continents, but separated due to continental drift. Unique species in the New World must have developed after the continents had moved apart. Significant distance between the continents was only achieved in around the last 50 million years. This may explain why cacti are so rare in Africa; the continents had already separated when cacti evolved. Many succulent plants in both the Old and New World bear a striking resemblance to cacti, and are often called "cactus" in common usage. This is, however, due to parallel evolution; none of these are closely related to the Cactaceae.

DAUBENYA ZEYHERI SEEDS       You are bidding on 5 seeds       Daubenya is a genus in the Hyacinthaceae family from South Africa.  Most of the species are found in the winter rainfall area.  Common to all are two spreading prostrate leaves and white to yellow or red tubular flowers in a condensed raceme followed by papery capsules with smooth glossy seeds.  Flowers are pollinated by butterflies, beetles, sunbirds and bees depending on the individual species. Daubenya Zeyheri is from calcareous-coastal sand s in the South Western Cape.  It has glossy green leaves and flowers with white petals and showy red-orange filaments.  That much alone makes it an attractive plant when viewed from the side.   The wonderful surprise comes when you view it from above.  The bottom of the stamens are coloured purple and this colour reflects in the copious nectar pools that gather in the flowers.  It looks like the flowers are filled with glowing amethysts.  The nectar attracts sunbirds who pollinate it.  Daubenya Zeyheri is a flat growing species, which flowers on the ground.   All Daubenya Zeyheri are winter growers.    Sowing instructions will be emailed after purchase   Shipping Options:   Post Office FastMail  (delivery in 4-5 working days) R39.00 for the first item (5 seeds), R5.00 per additional item Fastway Couriers (Pta / Jhb / Dbn / Cape Town / Nelspruit / Witbank / Middelburg / Rustenburg / Pinetown / Pietermaritzburg - delivery in 1-2 working days) R85.00 for the first item  (5 seeds), R5.00 per additional item Fastway Couriers (East London / PE / George - delivery in 2-3 working days) R85.00 for the first item  (5 seeds), R5.00 per additional item   Fastway Couriers (Knysna - delivery in 3-4 working days)   R85.00 for the first item  (5 seeds), R5.00 per additional item     If you are unsure if the courier delivers to your area, please message me to confirm   Courier delivery prices quoted are for the cities listed above.   The courier will deliver to other smaller towns but there is a R80.00 outlying area surcharge payable for deliveries to outlying areas (eg.
