 Orange Free State postage stamp: Orange tree Issued 1900 Used, hinged Color: Violet Denomination: I'm not sure I'm not quite sure what to make of this stamp. Both the periods and the "I" are missing and it seems that the ink of the overprint was smudged. Also, it seems to be a 2 penny surcharge on a 1 penny stamp, however, this variety is not listed in the Scott catalogue. I don't know whether the cancellation is blocking the actual number, but as far as I can tell it must be Scott catalogue number 45, but I'm not sure which number 45.
