 First published 1963 by Cassell. The jacket is whole, but is edge-worn and rubbed on the extremities / folds, and has some spotting on the reverse, and a price sticker on the back. The back is also slightly soiled. The boards are square and unmarked, but have a bit of wear / fading to the tops and edges. There is some light spotting to the first and last few pages, and spotting on the tops and edges. This is a novel of four soldiers sent to salvage a crashed Hurrican aircraft, and their escape from capture by the Germans in Norht Africa during World War Two. The author "was born in Johannesburg in 1916 and grew up in a sheep farming community in the Orange Free State, and now lives with his wife and three children in Natal. Mr. Lee has been a farmer, miner, native administrator and soldier. He saw service with a South African Armoured Car Division in North Africa and has always been affected by his recollections of the men with whom he fought, who exemplified the single-mindedness of the 8th Army in the desert, where the other ranks did the job and carried out the orders."
