Some info on the  41st Harbour Construction Company   On 10 Sep 1940, No. 1 Raiway Engineer Battalion was raised with headquarters at Germiston.Consisted of 38th,39th&40th Railway Construction Companies  41st Harbour Construction Company. Also known as the Railway Construction and Maintenance Group. This company was mobilized on 25 Nov 1940. It arrived in East Africa between 5 February to 4 March 1941. It arrived at Suez on 29 Sept1941. It served in the North African campaign right through to the capture of Tunis.After that it was located at Sousse, before moving to Tripoli. It arrived at Bari, Italy on 4 Dec 1943. They served in Italy later as part of 3rd Port Construction and Repair Group

In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Monitor Contractors’progress on site. Refer major designs or engineering queries to the Design Engineer, including approval of material and alternative design proposals. Ensure that the design specifications or other problems that may have relevance for future designs are brough to the attention of the Design Engineer. Apply relevant and applicable clauses of the New Engineering Contract to the project. Liaise with the Contractors Site Agent with regard to all aspects of the work. Ensure that the Contractor understands the obligations under the OHSA. Assist with the Environmental Management of the Contractor’s work. Maintain a site diary. Manage material testing onsite and offsite. Issue site instructions to the Contractors. Monitor progress as per approved construction programme and negotiate rectification of delays and unscheduled work. Agree on measurements of quantities with the Contractor. Arrange the completion of ”as-built” drawings, the construction completion report. Desired skills and experience If these are only some of your best professional traits, then this could be the next step you take in your career: NDip Civil Engineering; BTech or BSc in Civil Engineering. Minimum 8 years of experience as an RE or as a Site Agent for a Contractor. In-depth knowledge of road and concrete work, especially for civil infrastructure.
