Celebrate books, friendship, and chocolate milk shakes with Duncan the Dragon in this sweet, funny story perfect for fans of Dog Loves Books and Dragons Love Tacos. Duncan the Dragon loves to read. When he reads a story, his imagination catches fire! Unfortunately... so does his book. Fire breath is great for roasting marshmallows, but its not so great for reading. Duncan just wants to get to those two wonderful words, like the last sip of a chocolate milk shake: The End. Will he ever find out how the story ends? This bright, warm tale champions determination, friendship, and a love for books. And milk shakes! Praise for Duncan the Story Dragon: An Indie Next selection Winner of the Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy Bell Picture Book Award Winner of the Evelyn Thurman Young Readers Book Award An Indiana Young Hoosier Book Award Selection A Missouri State Teachers Association Reading List Selection A Nebraska Golden Sower Award nominee Nominated for the Utah Beehive Picture Book Award "The vivid colors, expressive faces, and comic details make this one likely to be a storytime hit. Like the last sip of a chocolate milkshake, it's very satisfying."--Kirkus Reviews From School Library Journal K-Gr 2Duncan the dragon loves reading. At least, he thinks he does. He can never quite get to the end of the book because his imagination sets them on fireliterally. Filled with longing to reach "The End," Duncan asks numerous woodland critters to read to him, but no one will take up his offer. Finally, a mouse who loves stories reads to Duncan and he experiences a satisfying ending, which, as the book points out, is "only the beginning." The cartoonlike illustrations add humor (Duncan in an ice bath with melted soaps to cool his imagination flame) and action (sailing on the high seas, surrounded by aliens, etc.). Then again, most people are nowhere near as successful as they wish they were.'The Go-Giver tells the story of an ambitious young man named Joe who yearns for success. Over the next week, Pindar introduces Joe to a series of successful 'go-givers' who teach him how to open himself up to the power of giving.Joe learns that changing his focus from getting to giving - putting others' interests first and continually adding value to their lives - ultimately leads to unexpected results. This revised and updated edition includes a foreword by Arianna Huffington; a new preface; a Q&A addressing some of the many questions about the book the author has received from fans and a reader's guide.'Most people don't have the guts to buy this book, never mind the will to follow through and actually use it. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days The Guardians' powers are put to the ultimate test in their final battle in this conclusion to the epic chapter book series from William Joyce. When we last saw the Guardians, they were celebrating their victory during Bright Night, the final great Battle of the Moon, where they defeated Pitch once and for all. Or so they thought. Now, many years later, the Guardians have settled into their final selves, embracing their public images and the Earth Holidays. But the world has not been without evil since Pitch's imprisonment. First there was the World War, then The Crash which has led to what the humans call a Great Depression. All the Guardians feel the weight of these events, but Jack Frost-now half human, half of his former self Nightlight-feels it the most. Jack's transition from Nightlight to Guardian was not an easy one. Always inclined to keep to himself, Jack has become especially isolated from the other Guardians since his transformation. Yet it is Jack who Ombric Shalazar (once a great wizard, now known as Father Time) trusts with a tremendous secret. But for Jack to fully understand this secret, he must revisit his past-and finally tell his story. Jack's story, however, isn't the only one to be reopened; an old enemy whose chapter we thought closed will reappear and with him bring a darkness and destruction that will test the Guardians like never before. It's a battle of superlatives-the worse fighting the greatest, but where, oh where, is Jack? REACH FOR THE SKY The Story of Douglas Bader by PAUL BRICKHILL 6th Impression 1954 (First Impression) was 1954 published by Collins London HARDCOVER No of Pages; 384 including the Index. " The bestselling story of Britain's most courageous and most famous flyer, the Second World War hero Sir Douglas Bader. In 1931, at the age of 21, Douglas Bader was the golden boy of the RAF. Excelling in everything he did he represented the Royal Air Force in aerobatics displays, played rugby for Harlequins, and was tipped to be the next England fly half. But one afternoon in December all his ambitions came to an abrupt end when he crashed his plane doing a particularly difficult and illegal aerobatic trick. His injuries were so bad that surgeons were forced to amputate both his legs to save his life. Douglas Bader did not fly again until the outbreak of the Second World War, when his undoubted skill in the air was enough to convince a desperate air force to give him his own squadron. The rest of his story is the stuff of legend. Flying Hurricanes in the Battle of Britain he led his squadron to kill after kill, keeping them all going with his unstoppable banter. Shot down in occupied France, his German captors had to confiscate his tin legs in order to stop him trying to escape. Bader faced it all, disability, leadership and capture, with the same charm, charisma and determination that was an inspiration to all around him." This book (there is no dust jacket) is in good condition, tightly bound and clean - no foxing or browning of the paper. There is a stamp  applied to the very first blank page, no name or other inscription added. The bottom of the spine has a little damage - see photograph. This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 8 - 15 working days Fighting Hitler's Jets brings together in a single, character-driven narrative two groups of men at war: on one side, American fighter pilots and others who battled the secret "wonder weapons" with which Adolf Hitler hoped to turn the tide; on the other, the German scientists, engineers, and pilots who created and used these machines of war on the cutting edge of technology. Written by Robert F. Dorr, renowned author of Zenith Press titles Hell Hawks!, Mission to Berlin, and Mission to Tokyo, the story begins with a display of high-tech secret weapons arranged for Hitler at a time when Germany still had prospects of winning the war. It concludes with Berlin in rubble and the Allies seeking German technology in order to jumpstart their own jet-powered aviation programs. Along the way, Dorr expertly describes the battles in the sky over the Third Reich that made it possible for the Allies to mount the D-Day invasion and advance toward Berlin. Finally, the book addresses both facts and speculation about German weaponry and leaders, including conspiracy theorists' view that Hitler escaped in a secret aircraft at the war's end. Where history and controversy collide with riveting narrative, Fighting Hitler's Jets furthers a repertoire that comprises some of the United States' most exceptional military writing. Features Summary Fighting Hitler's Jets is the personal story of the American fighter pilots who defeated the German Luftwaffe in the spring and summer of 1944, only to find themselves up against Adolf Hitler's Wunderwaffen...
