Instituted:  June 1901  Ribbon:  3 equal parts of dark blue, white and dark blue.  Clasps:  None Comment: Known as the Conspicuous service  cross when instituted, it was awarded to warrant and subordinate officers of the Royal Navy who were ineligible for the DSO. In October 1914 it was renamed the DIstinguished Service Cross and thrown open to all naval officers below the rank of lieutenant-commander.

General Service Campaign medal with Mentioned in Dispatches and Maluti Clasp Physical Description: Excellent condition medal is numbered Award description: To a member of the SADF or the Auxiliary Service of the SADF, who has since 1 January 1983 been employed, within the borders of the Republic of South Africa. 1990 - Qualifying service (a) Service rendered within the borders of the Republic of South Africa for a continuous period of 55 days, or for a noncontinuous period of 90 days. (b) Whilst rendering such service irrespective of the period of service, was injured or killed and was thus prevented from completing the required period of service. 1993 - Amendment to qualifying service was extended to combat terrorism and crime. The following was considered as qualifying service for the award of the medal: Rendering service and completed as part of any military operation within the borders of the Republic of South Africa on service in defence of the Republic or in the prevention or suppression of terrorism or in internal disorder in the Republic or in the preservation of life, health or property or for the maintenance of essential services, including the maintenance of law and order or the prevention of crime in co-operation with the South African Police.
