Each robbery has a specified amount of loot that you need to pick up and when your account is in the green and you have made it back to the car in one piece, a dialogue box pops up congratulating you on a successful job. If you got spotted the jig is up and you fail and have to go back to the drawing board. And ultimately that's it, you pull out of a job, you sell the loot, you buy better equipment so that you can pull off more daring jobs and the whole cycle begins again, until all the other denizens of the underworld think Matt is the coolest burglar in town. You arrive in the city of Omikron and your job is to research who you are (since your soul has been transported into another body) and why your partner, Den, has died. Through exploring the districts of Omikron for clues--and battling monsters in predictable fight scenes--you discover the truth about Den's death, mysterious serial killings and demons that haunt Omikron. The action scenes are thrilling, but more complicated than necessary. Each type of fighting requires new keystrokes, leaving you to think more than react to your opponent. The first-person shooting scenes are hard to master in using both mouse and keyboard to dodge, crouch, shoot and run. The hand-to-hand combat is much more exciting, and easier to manoeuvre. The graphics are wonderful but require the recommended system to fully enjoy the depth of the city of Omikron. Your interaction with the objects and people are not as sophisticated as you would expect. You find your character often saying things like "Why am I doing this?" and "I don't need to do that," when you want him to either pick up the object or ignore it. The interaction with other characters is similarly limited. For example, when approaching many of the female characters, you only check out their bodies and can't learn information they could give you. Similar plot issues may make you wonder about the teen rating, since women in the future seem destined to wear pasties and hot pants. It is almost as if Quantic Dream took on a little too much in creating Omikron: The Nomad Soul. The scope of what could be RPG fans wanting to take a risk may find this combination-format game as intriguing as the mysterious world it's based on. -- Madeleine Miller

Product Description Manufacturer's Description In the wild border region between Alaska and Canada roads are rare and the weather can make transport by ship and truck an adventures affair. So a lot of goods are transported by aircraft to the small strips that are about as common as a car park in downtown Chicago. The pilots who fly there tend to use older aircraft that are mechanically simple and easy to maintain and are sturdy and highly reliable. They rank amongst the best pilots in the world as they fly on the smallest strips, with very little navigational aids and in the world's worst weather. They call themselves Freight Dogs. The Aircraft The DHC2 Beaver is the perfect aircraft for the smallest strips and as it comes in an amphibian version (for water and runways) and a tundra wheel version (for really small strips) you will be able to land anywhere. Incredibly strong and versatile, this aircraft will get you into the smallest field. The Beech 18 is more suitable for the larger loads. With the two big radial engines and a load capacity that is only limited by the length of runway needed to take off, it will serve you perfectly in your role as Freight Dog. Both these aircraft have been designed over 50 years ago, but they are still vital as many bush pilots will tell you that there is no modern aircraft that can do what these aircraft can do. They are legends, but hard working legends. Real workhorses! The Scenery Freight Dogs do not need a 300 feet wide runway, with lighting, ILS, VASI and approach maps. A strip of flattened bush and they'll land there. In fact, a Freight Dog landing at a major airport told his friends back home it was a very short but INCREDIBLY wide runway. To bring the cargo into the airfields of Freight Dogs in good weather you need to be a good navigator and an even better pilot. When you do the same in more normal, meaning lousy, weather you will find that you really need to know what you are doing. The six small airports (three in Alaska and three in Canada BC) are all so close together that your flights will be relatively short. There are two tarmac runways, two gravel runways and two sea plane bases and you will find that each of them has special difficulties. Most are hard to approach when the wind is not favourable because of high terrain, and all are hard to find. The Module Now you got the airfields and the aircraft, you only need to be told where there is work for you. Freight Dogs get paid for hauling stuff around and FS Cargo will tell you what to pick up, where to take it and how long you got to do it. When you arrive at the airport you will see the cargo waiting for you, so taxi to it, load it and get it to the destination. Fs Cargo will keep track of your performance. Don't confuse FS Cargo with a standard load manager as is part of many products, it's not. This is a real extension of Flight Simulator. Some additional information Please note that the aircraft are basically similar to the full version of the aircraft that are sold, just some of the functions have been removed. FS Cargo is also nearly identical to the full version, although it lacks the editor that allows you to add airports; it is capable of loading the FS Cargo airport files created by others. Already hundreds are available. Great care has been taken to make the scenery compatible with other add-ons for the region and you will find that it merges seamlessly with add-ons as Misty Fjords.

Despite the huge island and the complete freedom of movement you have on it the game actually only has 21 story missions. There are over 300 side missions but it quickly becomes obvious that these fall into only a very small number of different styles, not all of which are all that entertaining. What makes the game fun though is just wandering off and doing your own thing, which invariably involves upsetting the local military or dr.g lords and instigating a massive, impromptu firefight. The game may lack depth and variety but it offers a freedom to explore and cause chaos that few others can rival. Most exciting moment: As impractical as it may seem youve always got a grappling hook and a parachute, which allows you to lock onto any vehicle and commandeer it whenever you want. It also lets you perform some utterly outrageous stunts as you parasail behind boats and jump from a moving aircraft straight onto a road convoy miles below you. Since you ask: Instead of storing the island of San Esperito as a gigantic map the game uses a new technique called procedural synthesis to create the landscape on the fly. This is the only way to make such large scale graphics work on the PS2, especially when youre flying miles above the island. The bottom line: Che Guevara meets James Bond in this shallow but satisfying sandbox game. HARRISON DENT Manufacturer's Description In Just Cause, you take on the role of the flamboyant Rico Rodriguez - an undercover CIA operative specialising in regime change - as he tries to overthrow the corrupt government of San Esperito. The gameplay in Unreal Tournament 2003 is far more tactical than you'd first think, although not to the detriment of those looking for a simple blast. But particularly in multiplayer mode--undoubtedly the highlight of a superb set of games--you need to think quite hard about your actions, whatever mode you're playing. It really can make the difference. In some ways, the game hasn't evolved from its predecessor. Undoubtedly it's slicker, looks better and is more polished, yet the core of the action is still very similar. Yet it's such pure, engrossing entertainment you'd be hard pushed to grumble. In all, Unreal Tournament 2003 is an accomplished and successful marriage of the original with some very welcome new ideas.
