During the German occupation of WWII, the local populace were brutally terrorised by a Nazi platoon led by Colonel Herzog (rjan Gamst). After suffering abuse, torture and the theft of all their gold, the citizens of the area managed to stage an uprising and chased Herzog and his men into the mountains where it is assumed they froze to death.
