This is an overview of the 20th century. More than any other piece of furniture, the chair has been subjected to the wildest dreams of the designers. The particular curve of a backrest, or the twist of a leg, the angle of a seat or the color of the entire artifact all reflect the stylistic consciousness of each era. From Gerrit Rietveld and Alvar Aalto to Verner Panton to Eva Zeisel, from Art Nouveau to International Style, from Pop Art to Postmodernism, the phenomenon of the chair is so complex that it requires a reference work as comprehensive as this to do it full justice. They are all here: Thonet's bentwood chairs and Hoffmann's sitting-machines, Marcel Breuer's Wassily chair and Ron Arad's avant-garde armchairs. The book devotes one page to each chair, displayed on its own as pure form, with biographical and historical information about the chairs and their designers. A special treat for anyone who loves design and a must for collectors! Features Summary More than any other piece of furniture, the chair has been subjected to the wildest dreams of the designers. Fenton Hobnail White Milk Glass Epergne 3 Trumpet Vase Beautiful ’s Piece = Art Deco =  Art Nouveau!!! Hobnail glass can be a pattern created by blowing a glass vessel into a mold, or it can be achieved by pressing the glass into a mold. It was very popular during Victorian times, usually in hand blown, translucent coloured glass, which is sometimes called "Dew Drop Glass". Milk glass hobnail was introduced by Fenton in , and proved to be one of their most successful products. It kept the company going during the very difficult years when many other glassworks closed down. The unique ruffled edges found on many Fenton wares also worked perfectly for the creation of the company's "crest" lines.  Dimensions:   235mm total height all in =  Ruffled Bowl diameter = 253mm x 130mm high, holes 18mm diameter  =  Trumpets = 224mm high x 95mm top diameter.    Condition:  1 trumpet has a small piece on the base broken off, part that fits into the support hole not able to be seen. Holes have a few stress cracks, but minor. The rest is in perfect condition!!!  Sold as seen the images. Images form part of the description.   Fenton Vases = some history.......    Fenton vases are some of the most beautiful glass collectible vases created in the United States. Because of their high quality and individuality, these vases can be extremely valuable and highly regarded by antique enthusiasts and collectors. Fenton is the most well-known glass figurines and collectables creator around. For those who are unfamiliar with Fenton products, Fenton has been in business since , producing high quality, hand blown glass items that have become collectables, making many of vintage pieces extremely valuable and highly sought after. Fenton was founded by two brothers, Frank and John Fenton, and they have become the number one glass producer in the United States. The original goal of Fenton was to create glass with different and unusual colours and features, some vases even feature 22 karat gold accents and designs that are hand painted. The artists and glass craftsmen at Fenton create individual, unique pieces so the value of each piece is high, which is why there are so many clubs and collectors groups dedicated to collecting these valuable pieces, many of which are antiques from the earlier production.
