Vintage brass coated Naval/ Military hat box with life saving award - R.H. Pringle. I would date this old hat box to the 1930/40s. I think that it may be naval, as it is brass coated, and further that it may be from WW2 (from the materials it is manufactured from). The box also contained an Intermediate Certificate awarded by The Royal Life Saving Society to Robert H. Pringle in February 1935, indicating that he was closely connected to the sea. The box is round with his name plate on the top, and has a hinged lid with a lockable latch on the front. It measures 17cm (high) x 26cm (diameter), and in fair condition for its age - hinge and latch still work, but there is some wear to the brass plate. The certificate is distressed, and needs handling with care. Great buy for the collector of vintage militaria. Shipping note: This item falls into the 1kg - 5kg category (approximately 5kg). The shirt is a large with the reference number 8415-18-401-6438. It is in good condition. A pair of SADF brown nutria trousers. I am not sure of the size, but it has a reference number 8405-18-401-6445. They are in good condition. 3 Pairs of woolen SADF socks. They are in good condition. Bargain 1 bid for the lot. This item was issued to members of the SAP from the 1940s to the early 1970s, and was manufactured by Lyttleton Engineering Works which now comprises of Armscor and Denel Land Systems. Vintage metal ammunition box. This old box would have been manufactured in the 1960s, but am not sure what ammunition it would have held. It has 2 metal handles and 2 clips which would lock the lid in place. I would assume that this box would have held ammunition used for the SADF border war. The box has "Government Explosives" stamped on the top, and "9 CTCES SIC in Green MK 127" on the side. It measures 45cm x 27cm x 26cm, and is in fair condition for its age - has some rust but solid.
